Enjoyable, though a couple of oddities
I am enjoying using this app, playing the different levels is good as I can keep switching up and coming back to things.
Only slight frustrations (as others have mentioned) are the repetition (I fear this will increase as I continue to complete puzzles) and also the Americanisms and occasionally over abstract clues that dont always translate.
Still good to challenge the little grey cells and enjoyable.
It’s ok
It’s alright, but doesn’t match the calibre of newspaper or book arrow words. The clues are often repeated (sewing aid - NEEDLE) and some clues are just plain wrong or very esoteric (Hot water dispenser... - URN??? I thought an Urn was used for ashes of the deceased) but apparently a vessel used for catering is called a “tea urn”.
You can see what’s happened. They have an algorithm that places words based on availability and length on a grid. The words are linked to a database of definitions. The definitions are generated via a search engine which can misread context or spelling. This results in some clues being very abstract or plain wrong. Compare this to an arrow word you would find in a newspaper which is vetted on a daily basis. I know why it’s done 1800 puzzles compared to just one a day. But I think the algorithm needs improvement.
The ads are fine.
Paid for ads to be removed
I’ve found that this App is playing havoc with the sensitivity of my touch. I paid to have the ads removed, but had to remove the app and reinstall again immediately to try to rectify the problem. Now it doesn’t seem to honour my payment for ad free, and I’m constantly getting ads every few mins whilst I’m playing! Very annoying!
