CodyCross: Crossword Puzzles 12+

Firstly, I should say that I do really enjoy this game. I’ve played it for longer than I’ve ever played any other game. I usually play in the evening to help me wind down from work. I like that there are many different difficulties within the levels and the varied topics covered by the questions themselves.

The ads are not too invasive and are certainly reasonable considering the obviously massive workload that goes into developing and maintaining such a game. I’m on group 212, and when you consider that there are 5 levels per group that’s well over a thousand puzzles so far. Honestly I’m more impressed that this game has kept me playing for this long and I haven’t had to spend a single penny.

So why have I only rated 4 stars? Well, there is 1 particular word (or, rather, part of a word) that keeps coming up over and over again, more than any other, and that is “ology”. Every level seems to have a clue like “study of [insert weirdly specific subject]”. Some levels have more than one. It’s getting a little old now and to a certain extent taking the challenge out of the question since you automatically know what the last 5 letters will be.

I’ve been playing this game for several years, whilst I love it, I’m also noticing more adverts being pushed into the game. You used to be able to choose if you wanted to watch an add for extra stars/clue tokens, then it was an add after each level whether you wanted extra stars/clue tokens or not, now it’s and add before and after each level, without the option of extra clue tokens anymore. Not sure why the developers are making this game less enjoyable by pushing adverts that give you no rewards. I used to play this to relax but now I’m finding myself getting annoyed trying to skip the horrible ads continuously. Also when completing a word; now it just tells you when you get one letter wrong, I used to enjoy the challenge. Sadly seems to be getting worse with each update.

Really nice game! Unfortunately, the loading phase takes soooooo long!! It’s a simple game, but it takes almost a minute to load the starting menu.. same when I finish a game.. so boring to wait!!

My answer is: the long time loading happened every time: at home with 50MB, at work with a faster connection and outside with 4G. Oh, and it doesn’t happens on the first time only, but ALL THE TIMES. Seriously I liked the game, but it was so annoying waiting that long!!!!
