CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 4+

Context: partner and I share the same account, and travel frequently with the monitor. It’s our only baby monitor.

Pros:
- works well enough to be our only baby monitor
- lovely and useful to be able to view recordings especially now the kid is sitting and standing
- great to be able to view over the internet- I can take a turn monitoring no matter how far away I am from home

Cons:
- safety issues: the app does not raise a notification if WiFi connection to the camera drops. This is a known issue for nearly a year, I raised it, and it has not been addressed.
- very poor WiFi setup process => travelling and connecting to new WiFi is possible but painful.
- there are no attachments for the camera which make use with a travel cot easy; the floor stand is too bulky, we rigged up our own clip on solution
- the software is, in general, pretty buggy: at one point our camera simply wouldn’t connect to WiFi any more. It took support 2 days to fix and the issue was on server-side. We nearly had to buy a new baby monitor as we without for a night (just slept in same room that once).
- audio is poor: there is a high level of white noise on the audio stream, making it annoying to have on in the background (of course, this is with respect to the app being used in default setting ie no noise being emitted by the device!). This again is known as I’ve submitted the issue, but no fix is possible.

We’ve been using the Cubo for 18m now and have never had any problems with connectivity as reported by the other reviews. Overall we’ve had a great experience with it using it to monitor our child and taking it with us when we travel. We have the travel box so it is protected; it makes a useful place to store all our charging cables in. We also use the lullabies feature and saying good night to the cute little bird has definitely become a feature of bedtime routine in recent months.

If I were to make changes or recommendations it would be these:
- a ‘nanny mode’ for the app. The nanny has full access to the app so that she can monitor daytime naps and use lullabies / background audio etc. This means she also gets notifications all night long when the baby wakes in the night. It makes me feel very guilty as the hours can be very anti-social. It would be good if there was a full access mode with either a toggle on/ off switch so she could clock off or hours that she could schedule.
- softer night light. The night light is a bright blueish white light. It’s a useful feature but I worry about whether the blue light is disrupting sleep and often switch to a softer yellow separate night light instead.
- bigger sleep sensor pad. Our baby often rolls off the mat to a corner of the bed that isn’t detected, triggering a ‘check the baby’ notification. I would definitely get a bigger one if I could, or get two and have them linked maybe?

We have excellent wifi and the Cubo AI camera fails to stay connected to it (no other devices of ours have this issue). There’s a firmware update that’s required within the app, which unlocks many of features that were the reasons as to why we paid £££ for this camera. But because of the terrible wifi connectivity, the firmware update fails every time. I didn’t just receive a faulty product, I’ve had a replacement camera sent to me by Cubo and it still won’t work. Look at other review platforms and see for yourself how many others are experiencing the same issue. If you do buy it, make sure you do so on credit card so you can request a charge back. Or at least make sure you test it out within the 45 day satisfaction period so you can get a refund when you realise it doesn’t work. The customer support chat have me going round in circles trying all sorts of “troubleshooting” and won’t refund me because I made the mistake of purchasing it in my first trimester and I only set it up in my third. I feel like I can’t even sell it on because it doesn’t work as advertised.
