Light and dark is per device Set your Mac to dark and your iPad to light, or the other way round, and each will stay as you left it. Light and dark is mostly about the room a device is in, so it no longer travels between them. Every other display preference still does.

The icon looks right in dark mode again DayMap's icon is built for iOS 26's light, dark, clear and tinted styles now, so it stays the blue tile with the white calendar in all of them. It is also back to the look DayMap launched with. Thank you to Andrew for the screenshots. Undo a dropped list Dropped a list on the wrong project? Command-Z removes every task it made, and only those. Sync status that stays out of the way The small cloud now sits inside the search box on the Mac and iPad, and in the toolbar on the iPhone, and appears only when sync cannot start. While DayMap is syncing normally nothing shows, and nothing in the toolbar moves. The calendar's buttons stay put Switching between Week, Next 7, Month and Upcoming no longer shifts the buttons in the calendar's header. Thank you to Jim for both.

Long task names in Focus In Focus, a long task name now wraps to a second line, with the project name underneath it, instead of being cut off after a few words. Thank you to Ira for reporting it. Hoist a project Project menu, Hoist Project, or right-click a project's header: every other project collapses and the one you are planning has the board to itself. Expand All Projects brings them back. Also from Ira.

Drag a list into a project Copy a list from Notes, Reminders, Mail or a web page and drop it on a project. Each line becomes a task, and indented lines become subtasks. Drop it on a task instead and the lines become that task's subtasks. Past twenty lines, DayMap asks first. Mac and iPad. The window comes back where you left it On the Mac, DayMap now opens at the size and position you last had it, including after an update. It used to forget after each new version. Thank you to Rene for reporting it. Command-F finds the search box On the Mac, Command-F now puts the cursor in the search box at the top right. Also from Rene. The expand arrow means there is something under it With completed tasks hidden, a task whose only subtasks were finished still showed an arrow that opened onto nothing. The arrow now appears only when there is a subtask to show. Sync status, where you can see it On the Mac and iPad a small cloud now appears beside the search box while DayMap is syncing, and turns orange with an explanation if sync cannot start. When everything is fine and idle, nothing is shown. A missed drop stays put Dragging a task within a day and letting go on empty space used to send it to the bottom of the day. It now springs back where it was. Thank you to Jim for both.

THE SYNC LOG - THIS IS THE ONE I NEED NUMBERS FROM Settings, iCloud. Below the sync report there is now a timestamped log of what iCloud has been doing, newest first, with seconds. With two Apple IDs: add a task to a shared project on one machine, then read the log on BOTH. On the sending machine find when the upload finished. On the receiving machine find when the download began. The gap between those two numbers is the delay, and it tells us whose it is. If the upload finishes in a second or two and the download starts a minute later, the time is CloudKit's and out of our reach. If the upload itself is slow, it is ours. Send me both logs either way. THE APP ICON DayMap's icon is the current artwork now - deeper blue, and the calendar and pin fill much more of it. It was the last place still carrying the old cyan version. Look at it in the Dock, in Launchpad, on the Home Screen, in the app switcher, in Settings, and on the watch. Anywhere it looks wrong - a white box behind it, square corners where they should be round, a blurry or off-centre mark - tell me where you saw it. The one worth a close look is the smallest: the Mac menu bar and Finder sidebar draw it at 16 points, and that is where an icon usually falls apart.

A bearing takes its task to the top of the day Marking a task as one of your 3 Daily Bearings now moves it to the top of that day's work. Set all three and they read 1, 2, 3 down the list, in the order you chose them. A task with a time on it keeps its place on the clock. Go straight to a task's project On Mac and iPad, right-click a task on the calendar or in Focus and the menu offers to take you to its project. It switches areas, opens the column if you had it folded, and scrolls to the task, wherever you had filed it. Choose the screen DayMap opens to on iPhone Settings > Your Day > When DayMap Opens lets you pick Projects, Today, Upcoming or Inbox. If you plan from Upcoming, that is where the app now starts, instead of two taps away. It applies when you open DayMap fresh, not when you come back to it from another app — being pulled somewhere else mid-task would be worse than the setting is worth. Next 7 moves through the days without a break Scrolling the Next 7 calendar and stopping part way now shows seven days in order wherever you let go. Thank you to Ugur for reporting this one, and for checking the dates rather than the day names — that is what made it findable. The Schedule tab stays where you left it On iPhone, switching to Inbox or Projects and back to Schedule now returns you to Day or Upcoming, whichever you were using.

Next 7 Days, on the toolbar The calendar toggle now reads Week, Next 7, Month and Upcoming. "Next 7" starts on today and moves a day at a time instead of a whole week — it was already there under Settings, and this puts it where you are looking. It is the same setting in both places, so changing one changes the other. See what is underneath a task before you move it A scheduled task that has subtasks now shows a small mark and a count on the calendar, the way the planner shows an arrow beside it. Until now the calendar said nothing, so a task with three subtasks under it looked exactly like one with none. Deleting a repeating task from its first day Right-clicking the first day of a repeating task now offers "Delete Repeating Task". It used to offer only "Remove from Scheduler" — which on that one day ended the whole series rather than taking a single day off the calendar. Later days are unchanged and still offer Skip This Day and Delete This and Future. Dragging a task onto another to nest it The middle of a row is a larger target, so dropping one task onto another to make it a subtask lands where you meant it to. Checking a task off on the phone On iPhone, completing or uncompleting a task in the Schedule sometimes did not move the checkbox until something else refreshed the screen — the change was saved, but you could not see it. It updates straight away now.

Unscheduled tasks at the top of a project A project can now show the tasks with no date on them first, above the ones you have scheduled, with a line between the two. Settings > Appearance > "Show unscheduled tasks first". Nothing is reordered and nothing moves in your calendar, and turning it off puts everything back exactly as it was. Choose which Waypoint questions get asked Settings > Waypoint > "Questions asked" lists every question, DayMap's and your own, and you can switch off any you would rather not be asked. Nothing you have already written is removed: look back at an earlier day and the question and your answer are both still there. Turn your own Waypoint question into a checklist Write a question of your own — "Things that matter each day" — save it, and give it up to ten check boxes. Water, teeth, reach out to a friend, whatever you want. Reword the question later and the boxes stay. If you have already answered it on some day, DayMap keeps the old wording there, so looking back still shows the question you actually answered. Folding a task stays on the device you fold it on Opening a task's subtasks on your Mac used to open the same task on your iPhone, and closing it closed both. How you have things folded is now yours alone, on each device. Whatever you had folded before this update stays folded. Watch captures find their own way to iCloud A task added on the Apple Watch away from your iPhone used to wait until you opened DayMap on the watch again. Now the watch asks for time to send it, so it arrives on its own. If it still cannot, the watch says so rather than leaving you to find out tomorrow. A rolling week in the Task Scheduler The Scheduler can now start on today and run seven days forward, moving a day at a time instead of a whole week. Settings > Calendar > Week view. Choose "Next 7 Days", or keep "Calendar Week" for Sunday-to-Saturday. Settings now says what iCloud is doing Settings > iCloud has a short report of whether setup, download and upload are working, on iPhone and iPad as well as the Mac. If something has stopped, the reason is there and can be selected and sent. Nothing should be invisible If DayMap ever finds a task that belongs to no project, it now puts it in your Inbox. You are unlikely to see this happen — it matters because such a task appeared nowhere at all, so the work existed and could not be seen or edited. Fixed Tasks no longer rearrange themselves. Rows in a project could swap places on their own, and adding a task somewhere else was enough to set it off. On iPhone, tapping the arrow beside a task that has subtasks no longer ticks the task off by mistake. A subtask you have typed but not yet added is kept when you close the Focus pane, instead of being thrown away. Typing a task onto a day in the Scheduler keeps its whole name. "Pay the invoice by Monday" dropped on Friday used to lose its last two words.

Ticking off a repeating task Completing one day of a repeating task now shows the check straight away. It was always being saved — the row just didn't catch up until you did something else or reopened DayMap. One more thing to ask Siri "Hey Siri, add this to the DayMap inbox." Siri asks what to add, and it goes straight into your Inbox.

Completed tasks disappear right away On the Mac, ticking a task off left it on screen until you clicked something else. It goes as soon as you tick it now. Choosing a project is easier Changing which project a task belongs to now lists your projects by name, with the Inbox at the top. Projects you have archived are no longer offered, and neither is the Templates library. Info on a long press, on iPhone Press and hold a project in the Projects list for its details — name, color, areas, notes, archive and delete. Changing a project's color used to mean opening the project first.

Tell Siri what to remember "Hey Siri, remember this in DayMap." Siri asks what, you say it, and it goes into today's Waypoint. The app doesn't have to open. Say two things during an evening and you get both. Four more things you can ask "What's on this week in DayMap" answers with a summary rather than a list: how many over the next seven days, how many are today, and which day is fullest. You can also put a task on today, name one as a Daily Bearing, or ask what's on today, without touching the screen. Siri can see your repeating tasks Asking what's on today now includes repeating tasks, and any occurrence you have moved or completed. It also leaves out anything in a project you have archived, the same way archived projects stopped sending reminders in 1.30. Details when you add a task on iPhone The New Task box has a Details button beside Add, the same one the Mac has had. Add works exactly as before. Details opens the new task, so a note, a deadline or subtasks are one step away instead of three. Share a single day of your Waypoint Change the date at the top of the Waypoint pane and Share offers that day by name, alongside This Week, This Month and Everything. Fixes A Waypoint answer written on two devices could gain the same line again every time it synced. Sharing your Waypoint sent today's writing whichever day you were reading. Deleting an area described what would happen to its projects using a rule that changed in 1.30.

Show a project in more than one area A project is filed in one area and can now appear in others as well. Open a project's menu and choose Areas: "Belongs to" is where it is filed, and "Also appears in" is everywhere else you want to find it. This changes something you may notice. A project with no area used to appear in every area view, and now appears a No Area instead. To have a project span everything, switch on every area and it will. Archive a project instead of deleting it Projects you have finished can be put away rather than deleted. They leave the board, stop reminding you, and keep everything in them. Bring one back whenever you want. Archived projects do not count toward the five-project limit. Ask your own questions at the end of the day Settings, Your Day, Waypoint: add two questions of your own, and they are asked alongside the ones DayMap comes with. Change one later and your earlier answers keep the question you actually wrote them under. Share what you have written in Waypoint From the top of the Waypoint pane: Today, This Week, This Month or Everything, as plain text through the usual share sheet. Deleting an area asks what to do with its projects Rather than a plain delete, you choose whether to archive the projects it holds or keep them on the board. The areas menu now also says how many projects are filed nowhere, so none of them go missing. Set how wide your project columns are Settings, Appearance: choose Small, Medium or Large columns, or set them all at once. Dragging a column's edge still adjusts that column on its own. The choice is per device, so a width that suits your Mac does not follow you to your iPad. Reminders offer to turn on when you set a time Setting a specific time on a task now asks whether to switch reminders on for this device, so a task with a time actually reminds you. Fixes Dragging the first occurrence of a repeating task onto another day left a copy behind on the day it came from. An archived project's reminders kept going off. Backups now keep changes made to a single occurrence of a repeating task, and bring them back when you restore. What's New listed the previous release rather than the update you had just installed.

A dragged task stops staying greyed out Dropping a task onto a project column left the row it came from faded until you clicked elsewhere and back. Choose the area DayMap opens to Settings, Areas, "Open to" - All Areas, Last Used, or one of your own. DayMap used to open to everything every time. Your choice follows you to your other devices.

What's New, inside the app What's New stays open on the iPhone Tapping What's New in Settings opened it for an instant and then closed Settings with it. It stays up until you press Done, and its text now wraps to your screen instead of breaking mid-sentence. A free trial could not buy anything During the 14-day trial DayMap said Pro was active and offered only Restore Purchases, with no way to reach the purchase screen. The Pro section now names the plan you are on - trial with days left, yearly, or Lifetime - and offers a way to buy unless you already own Lifetime. Redeem a Code is there too. Timed tasks at the top of a day, or the bottom Settings, Appearance. Tasks with a time now sit at the top of a day by default, where you see them first. They stay pinned either way, so they never scroll out of sight, and Bottom is still there if that is how you plan. A project with no area now stays in view Filtering the board to an area used to hide projects that were in no area at all, so a project spanning everything disappeared whenever you filtered. An area filter hides what belongs to the areas you did not pick, and an unfiled project belongs to none of them. No Area still lists only the projects you have not filed. A task could disappear when you turned its repeat off Setting a repeating task back to Repeat: None, or unscheduling it, left the task hidden rather than removed - gone from its project and from search, on every device. Nothing was ever deleted, both ways in are fixed, and a task already in that state comes back the next time DayMap opens. Repeat on the second Tuesday of every month Set a task to Monthly and choose the day of the month or the weekday it falls on - Second Tuesday, Last Friday. Every 3 months on the first Monday works too. See which project and task a scheduled item belongs to Settings, Appearance: "Show where a task comes from". Each task on the calendar then names its project and the task at the top of its group, so two tasks called the same thing are told apart. Off until you turn it on.After an update DayMap shows what changed since the version you last had, and Settings, About keeps every release with its date. Notes can be formatted Bold, italics, bullet lists and links in a task's notes. Select a word and press a button, or type Markdown yourself. Bold looks bold as you write it, and a link keeps your words with the address behind them. Drag a file onto a task to link it Drop a file from Finder onto a task and its link goes into the notes, with a mark on the row so you can see it is there. A file in iCloud Drive or Dropbox will open on your other devices; one on your Mac's own disk will not, and DayMap says so beside the link. Hold Option while dragging to copy a task On the Mac, Option makes the task you drop a copy and leaves the original where it was - onto another task, into a project, or between days on the calendar. Subtasks in the task editor Open a task and its subtasks are there, with a field to add another. On every device - the iPhone had no way to add a subtask before. Unscheduling a repeating task turns the repeat off Taking a repeating task off the calendar used to leave the repeat behind, so it still called itself Daily and appeared nowhere. Both go together now, Command-Z brings both back, and any task already in that state is repaired when DayMap opens.

No grey box behind the day's timed tasks Tasks with a time sit pinned at the foot of their day. The grey panel behind them made them harder to read rather than easier, and the line above them already says they are separate. Scheduler text size on the iPad Settings, Appearance. The calendar's text is smaller than the planner's above it, which is deliberate - the calendar fits seven days across. The Mac has had a control for that balance and the iPad had none. Three steps now, and Extra Large makes the two match. It works alongside your system text size rather than replacing it. iCloud sync follows your setting and your plan Switching iCloud sync off now stops it, and on the free tier DayMap keeps your data on the device. Whatever has already reached iCloud stays there, and your tasks are on your device either way. Repeating tasks are no longer crossed out A repeating task in a project could appear struck through and greyed, as though it were finished, with no way to change it back. A repeat is a rule rather than a task you finish, and it now looks like one on every device. A task that could go missing on the Watch If you moved one day of a repeating task and later cleared that task's date, the day you moved still showed on iPhone and Mac but not on the Watch. It shows everywhere now, and the Watch complication counts it. Carry unfinished work to today Settings, Your Day. Anything left on an earlier day moves onto today the first time you open DayMap each day, oldest first. It tells you what it moved and offers to put it back. Repeating and finished tasks are left alone. Reorder tasks on the iPhone Tap Edit on a project and drag the handles. Root tasks; subtasks travel with their parent. The task you are dragging steps back The task you picked up now fades while you carry it, and settles into its new day rather than appearing there. It no longer floats a labelled pill beside it - you drag the row itself, as the old DayMap did. The iPad keyboard works in the planner and the calendar Delete removes the selected task, and takes a selected block off the calendar. Space ticks a task off. Command-Z puts back what you deleted. None of those had ever reached those panes. Clicking a task now lets go of the search box, and both keys still belong to whatever you are typing in. Space completes a task on the Mac calendar Select a scheduled block and press space, as you can in the planner. Typing no longer sets off a keyboard shortcut, or disables one A space typed into a project's name ran the shortcut for completing the selected task instead of typing a space. Separately, adding or renaming once left every shortcut dead until the app was quit. Fixed on every platform. Drag several tasks at once On a Mac, Command-click or Shift-click to select more than one task, then drag them together - onto a day, onto another task, or onto a project. They land in the order you see them, and a selection can span projects. Deleting several asks first. Duplicate a task In a task's menu, next to Copy, on Mac and iPhone. The copy keeps the notes, subtasks, day and deadline. Project colors on the iPad calendar A scheduled task shows its project's color down its left edge, as it does on the Mac. On iPad there had been no color indicator at all. A quieter mark for scheduled tasks The red badge beside a scheduled task is a thin outline now rather than a filled circle, and iPhone and Mac draw it the same way. A bigger scheduler text size on the Mac The size picker has a fourth, larger step.

You can see what you have selected Selecting a task in a dark-colored project barely showed anything. A selected row now stands out whatever color its project is, while still carrying that project's tint. Choose where captured items go Quick Add and voice capture always put things in your Inbox. Settings, General, "Capture to" lets you pick any project instead. The Inbox stays the default. Add a task straight onto a day In the week view, hover a day for a + or double-click an empty part of the column, then type. Your text is read for dates as usual, but the day you picked wins. Selecting in one pane shows it in the other Click something on the calendar and its task is highlighted in the project list; click a task and every day it falls on is highlighted on the calendar. Dictation settings on the Mac Choosing the language voice capture listens for was only ever possible on iPhone. It is in Mac Settings now. Clearer answers when calendar access is refused If DayMap could not be given access to your calendar, it now names the two causes it could not name before: running the iPhone and iPad version of DayMap on a Mac, which cannot be granted access that way, and Screen Time restrictions quietly preventing the permission box from appearing at all.

Templates Any task with subtasks is a checklist. Now you can keep one and start it again whenever you need it. Right-click a task on the Mac, or press and hold it on iPhone, and choose Save as Template, then give it a name. Start one from the project menu on the Mac, or from under Add Task on iPhone. Templates live in an ordinary project called Templates, so editing one is editing a task. Copies arrive undated, so nothing shows up already late. Templates are part of DayMap Pro. If your subscription ends, your templates stay where they are and you can still read them. A checklist you already started is an ordinary task and stays yours to finish.

Duplicate events in Apple Calendar If you sync tasks to Apple Calendar and use DayMap on more than one device, the same task could appear two or three times on the same day, because each device made its own copy without recognizing the others. New copies stopped being made in the last update. This one clears the copies already in your calendar. Only DayMap's own calendar is touched. If you sync into a calendar of your own, nothing in it is removed.

Bring your data from the old DayMap If you used DayMap years ago, your projects and tasks can come across. Open Settings and look for "Coming from DayMap 2?". DayMap shows you exactly what it will bring before it does anything, tells you what it cannot bring, and saves a backup of your current data first. Importing the same file twice will not make copies. Type the day into the task End a task with a day and DayMap schedules it there. "Email Tom back on Tuesday" becomes a task called "Email Tom back", on Tuesday. Times work too. A day only counts when it is the last thing you typed - so "Meet with Tuesday Weld" stays exactly as you wrote it. Freezes when checking a task off DayMap could stop responding when you checked a task off, and could then fail to reopen afterwards. Two separate causes, both fixed. One task, one calendar event If you sync to Apple Calendar and use more than one device, a single task could appear two or three times - once per device. The extra copies clear themselves up as each device catches up. Waypoint keeps what you wrote Writing a Waypoint on two devices on the same day could leave each device showing only its own copy, which looked like your writing had disappeared. Nothing was lost, and both pieces now come together into one entry. Waypoint is easier to reach on iPhone, and Return starts a new line in an answer instead of finishing it. Undo puts everything back Deleting a task and undoing could return it without its Daily Bearing rank, its place in the day, its repeat interval or its deadline. It now comes back whole. Dragging a task onto a day, or taking one off, can now be undone with Command-Z. Removing a single day of a repeating task in Month view no longer takes the whole series off the calendar. Also fixed A blue line could stick above a task on the calendar and stay there. Switching areas is one click: clicking an area switches to it rather than adding it to the one you were already looking at. To see several at once, Command-click on a Mac or use "Show Several". Changing a project's area is where you would look for it, near the top of Get Info rather than below the colors. If you have been sent a code, there is now a Redeem a Code button on the upgrade screen. On iPhone, a new project now lands beside the one you were working in, matching the Mac.

Dragging tasks is fast again Moving a task to another day could make DayMap stop responding, especially with a lot of tasks. It was doing far more work than it needed to every time you dropped one. Nothing was ever lost - the move was always saved before the app stalled - but it should now stay responsive however much you drag. Calendar switches explain themselves The two calendar options could switch themselves back off without saying why. Three different things cause that, and DayMap now tells you which one, with a button that takes you to the right place in System Settings.

What's new in this version: • Repeating tasks now show that they repeat, and how — "Weekly — Tue, Wed, Thu" — right in the Project Planner. They also stay put when you hide completed tasks, instead of disappearing. • Deleting a repeating task now asks what you meant: skip a single day, stop it from a day onward, or remove it altogether. • Fixed hiding completed tasks removing every occurrence of a repeating task from the calendar, not just the ones you'd finished. • Fixed being unable to undo a task deleted from its detail view. • Send a Copy of a project as text or PDF — now on iPhone as well as Mac. • Mac: choose how large the Task Scheduler draws its text — Compact, Default or Large — in Preferences. iPhone and iPad follow your system text size. What's new in this version: • Fixed renaming a project being lost if you clicked away instead of pressing Return. The new name is now kept either way, and Escape cancels. • Contexts that shared a name are now merged into one, and creating a context that already exists reuses it. Your projects keep their grouping. • You can now change a context's color — click or tap its color dot in Settings. Before, the color was assigned when the context was created and couldn't be changed. • Settings now tells you plainly when calendar sync or reminders have stopped because DayMap Pro ended, instead of leaving you to work it out. • Groundwork for sharing projects with other people, which is what we're building toward. 3 Daily Bearings Mark the three tasks that set the direction of your day. DayMap numbers them 1, 2 and 3, and the number follows the task wherever it appears — your Schedule, your projects, and the Today screen on Apple Watch. Three is the limit, on purpose. When a day is already full, you choose which one drops. You can also pick a day's bearings ahead of time — open any future day and choose there. Progress rings Each project now carries a small ring that fills as its tasks are completed. Both can be switched off in Settings if you'd rather not see them. Also on iPhone: swipe left on a project to delete it, and creating a new project is now reachable from the Projects screen. Fixed: setting DayMap up on a second device could create a duplicate set of sample projects.
