Description

DERE EVIL EXE is both a terrifying thriller with a gripping story and an unorthodox retro platformer with unique puzzles and obstacles.

In DERE EVIL EXE, you step into the tiny shoes of a silent hero named 'Knightly'. Knightly must jump, run, and manipulate environments in order to survive the heart-racing journey through a stunning pixel art world.

Within surreal structures lurk dangerous creatures known as 'corruptions'. They take the form of their creator's greatest fears. Their creepy creator, sporting a cunning visage of cheerfulness, hides in plain sight as she watches her prey fall deeper into her traps. Will Knightly be able to escape these pixelated nightmares?

Amazing game!

I’ve had this game for a while sitting on my phone (i got too mad and left it sitting on level 3 for a while) and finally came back to complete it. I wish I had sooner, it was so fun! The ending is clever (i’m not going to spoil it) and the gameplay is the perfect mix between fun and challenging. It keeps switching up on you so it’s not repetitive, the save points are evenly spread and there’s barely any bugs!
One thing I should say though, a bug I encountered during the limbo level, during the part with the blank level menu platforms I kept losing the ability to jump. The button showed as being pressed yet the character wasn’t jumping. It happened a few times, and always in a certain spot in the right hand corner, but i avoided it eventually and the game was still playable around the bug.
This was the only thing I saw wrong, and even then it’s such a small thing that it doesn’t really matter.

@MoogieFaroogie ,

Great game, original mechanics and crazy fun story

At its base there’s a great 2D platformer with some novel and really playable additions I haven’t seen anywhere else but the crazy confusing characters that drive the narrative really push this into a different league. Just completed it, and it’s so great I’m going straight back to play through it again.

Be warned though that parts of this are a Super Meat Boy style grinder of a platformer so just pay to remove ads as it’s totally worth twice what that costs and even if you didn’t need it (you will) it’s important to support developers that put this kind of quality content out. Great game.

Quick and quirky

This is a cute little game that’s quite simple to play but some parts of it require patience and planning which gives it the frustration element that makes it addictive. The controls are simple, although the placement and of the back and forth buttons can sometimes get in the way of the screen you actually need to see. There are some really good uses of environmental elements in the game with the player having to move, balance and roll their way through the sections.
The story and concept are both good ideas but the game is a little short to fully explore the multilayered A.I. idea, it didn’t give too much of a back story which meant there are a lot of gaps in my understanding of the plot. I wouldn’t call it a horror, some atmospheric music and some jump scares aren’t really enough to leave me shaking.
But, overall, this is really fun little game if you have a Sunday afternoon to waste.
