DockThings 1.2 is bringing so many improvements and new features that it’s hard to list them all in detail. A big thank you to all users who shared their ideas with us – many of those suggestions have already made their way into the app! A few examples: View folder contents right in DockThings, add rows and columns more quickly, enjoy greater freedom in customizing your docks, use faster keyboard navigation or rely on scroll wheel and trackpad gestures.

I really like this dock accessory, it’s unobtrusive, looks great with the glass settings on the new OS and can (literally) keep tabs on your favourite apps and files. Unless I am missing something - it would benefit greatly from 2 additional features, namely - when arranging items in each tab, it would be fantastic if you could drag icons between other icons (like apps on a phone screen) because if you are organising stuff alphabetically, its a royal pain to have to drag every other app down a position to accommodate the new one. Likewise it would be nice of the various tabs created could be dragged into a different order on demand. I can’t see how to do either of these things on the current version.

This is a GREAT App. If you regularly use lots of files and folders, and it takes you ages to find the one you want to use today, this file and folder “pointer” works quickly and easily. Personalise files/folders with colours etc adds a further dimension to identification. Helps to declutter desktop items….just be aware that this is not a storage medium, only directs to the storage, so if your desktop file is not also held on ssd or elsewhere, it needs to be dragged to storage before you direct DockThings to its location. Always use the stored location (not desktop) to link with DockThings….If not, and you then delete the desktop item to declutter, DockThings won’t find it! Once you are familiar with how it works, it’s so much easier to find the files you use most often. The tabs on each Folder give you plenty of space, and further capabilities to section files to suit your own preferences. Highly recommended.

I like the app. Synium makes great software. It is convenient for accessing folders, files, websites & apps all the time. Unfortunately, at the moment there does not seem to be an option to sort items in a tab, or have items move position automatically when a new item is added. When I try to add a new item to where something else is located it just replaces the item that was there rather than moving it to the next position. I like to have things sorted alphabetically, and when I need to add a new item to a tab it often means I have to move every other item manually to make room for the new one.
A Very Simple Idea but Brilliant

This is a very simple idea but that doesn’t mean it’s not extremely useful. If you have a project of almost any sort, you will need to open apps, files, folders, websites. You can store links to all these in a DockThing and you can have a DockThing for each project. This saves a lot of time.
