Ratings and Reviews
Good one, but...
I am new to Emby and it was pretty easy setting this up to my NAS. However, when I cast a video to chromecast and close the emby app or return to my Emby home page, I can no longer control the video...this means that the seek bar is no longer available..! I can’t even stop/close a video from the Emby app. All I can do is to restart chromecast. I have paid for the ‘Emby, Unlock Playback’ feature.
You keep on paying.
You pay for the app, but what it does not say is that you then have to pay to see your own streamed movies. And at the server end you have to pay to use your computers transcoding capability. And if you don’t want to see movie covers, instead of just the titles you have to put up with a large generic movie frame icon. Have tried Plex, Kodi, Serviio, Mezzmo and this, looking for a simple flat file structure not eating up disc space with gimcrack poster titles etc, and the winner so far is Kodi, despite it’s annoying habit of overscanning my Panasonic plasma. The server version of Emby on win7 looks redeemable, but you will soon get tired of paying a subscription to see your own videos.
I see all these negative reviews but I gotta say I f’ing love this app. My server is not the best specs but with emby on it running about 20 users over 2 years it’s probably crashed on me twice which wasn’t a problem all I did was restart emby-server and all sorted.
