Amazing game!!

This devs games are all fantastic in their own unique way and amazingly, cover a range of genres. Don’t let the low general rating fool you, this game is amazing and has improved a ton since its release.

There’s nothing quite like loading up a ship gradually with side-facing weapons, flying around enemy ships, and watching as your weapons let fire and tear into them. All weapons are directional - one ship has mostly side-facing mounts, so missiles/lasers/turrets are launched sideways like an old Pirate ship having to pull up alongside what it was trying to shoot at.

Except while you go past them firing, they’re trying to aim at you where you were a second ago and miss spectacularly. Different ships have different mount configs so you can have one with every weapon facing forward, or one with a rear facing mount so you can “run away” and drop mines/fire missiles/drop automated turrets behind you while they give chase for example.

The tactics this one feature alone provides is phenomenal. AND you unlock new ships and weapons and upgrades as you progress.

My only MAJOR complaint is the control scheme: drag your finger around to steer, tap with another finger to fire, or swipe to dodge. Often, the game registers a tap as a swipe and instead of firing my weapon I end up catapulting forward in a dodge straight into enemy fire.

One finger control setting isn’t any better: drag to steer, release to fire, except releasing causes you to stop moving while you fire and you end up a sitting duck for that brief moment.

This game DESPERATELY needs a Joystick overlay with a dedicated fire and dodge button, with joystick large and in the centre or right side of the screen, and the fire and dodge buttons on the left side (or draggable in settings to where you want them and how big). Even swiping to dodge would be fine still as long as it doesn’t work over the designated fire button. About to email the dev about this and fingers crossed he responds!
