Helps me save money

I have been using the app for few months. I try to take part in every available event. I have already noticed a reduction on my monthly bills. Even though I have not yet collected enough points to exchange it for rewards, it motivates me to do my bit for the planet. The app is a superb idea. It was very easy to create an account and link my smart meter. I now participate because I want to do my big for the planet. 😊

We look forward to helping you earn your first reward! Thanks again for being part of the equiwatt community and doing your bit for the planet. Team equiwatt 😊

Save energy to reduce demand at peak times

This app allows you to opt in to energy-saving events that reward you for using less energy than normal, usually during peak times. I haven’t accumulated enough points to earn any rewards yet but I’ve only been a member since 27 January 2023 (less than 6 months at the time of writing). I’ve earned more through Octopus Energy, my electricity supplier; but equiwatt has more energy-saving events than the standard National Grid Demand Flexibility Service (DFS). My main issue with the service is that you sometimes have to manually opt in to energy-saving events and they sometimes happen at such short notice that it’s hard to plan around them. But if it helps to prevent burning more fossil fuels during peak electricity demand, then it’s worth slight inconvenience. I’d encourage every UK household to sign up.

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to review our app and for being part of the equiwatt community. With regards to your earnings with Octopus Energy, they would be higher as that was part of the National Grid DFS. For the DFS rewards were subsidised by National Grid which meant you could earn more from taking part in the DFS events compared to our own events. However, as an approved provider of the DFS we actually offered more rewards per kWh saved than Octopus! We always try and give us much noticed of events starting as possible but sometimes we don't receive much notice ourselves as we have to respond to the needs of the grid. However, we are trying to make the process better so thanks for the feedback, it is really helpful. Thanks again for being part of the community and we look forward to helping you earn rewards for doing your bit to reduce energy and CO2 at peak times. All the best, Team equiwatt

Fantastic energy saving app!

A great way to do your bit for the planet, save a bit of money and teach kids to turn electricity off when not using- my 5 year old is genuinely interested when there’s an event and helps me turn everything off! Points take a while to stack up but every little helps.

Developer Response ,

Hi Lucy, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we really appreciate it! We are so pleased to hear that you are enjoying the app and the rewards on offer. Great to hear that your 5 year old is getting involved too! Thanks for being part of the community and doing your bit to help the planet and the grid by reducing the need for dirty, expensive energy. All the best, Team equiwatt
