Everand

I started listening to audiobooks as I enjoy reading but didn’t have much time to fit it in actually sitting down with a book, I tried a few subscription services before selecting this one as my favourite. I think it is better value than audible but it is a bit annoying to navigate and often shows you the same titles, for example sometimes you can search a book with the exact title and it doesn’t display but if it’s saved or you find the author you can normally find it that way. Also when loading up an audiobook it often states buffering after I’ve pressed play and I then need to press play again multiple times for it to buffer enough to actually play, this can be quite frustrating.

Disappointing

I subscribed because I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and wanted a borrowing service rather than an offering like audible. However this isn’t truly unlimited, in this case unlimited just means that there is always something you can listen to not that you can always listen to anything in the library whenever you want to, and there is no indication of what your monthly limit is or when you are going to hit it, so having listened to the first few books in a series I suddenly couldn’t listen to any more until the next billing period started, so clearly some audiobooks are limited. This alone might not have been an issue if it was clear what the monthly limit was and which audiobooks counted towards this limit, but there is no indication until you try to listen to something to be faced with “available soon” banners on most books

The search function is dismal, I often have to try 2 or 3 different search terms to find what I want, and have often resorted to finding something else written by the same author to click through to their author page to then find what I want. Series aren’t linked in any way either so if you have finished one book you have to go through the dismal search function again to find the next book in the series.

It’s also disappointing that it is not compatible with CarPlay as I listen to books when driving, there is an option to link to waze, but again this functionality didn’t work on the CarPlay version of the waze app either.

New update limit increased and full of bugs

Product has been ruined!

Content: Okay so I have listened to 2 books this month. Which counted to 15h of listening but at 1.5 speed so about 10h and now I’m locked out of most content. I have used my subscription within less than a week. I used to be able to listen to about 40h worth of content. 4-5 books. Now it’s 2. This new update is devaluing the product. I rather just pay £7 each for audiobook and own it with audible. Instead of £10 here and borrow them when “I’m not limited”. We should be given proper outline of what we pay for and how much content we get to consume for the subscription.

Bugs: now the whole app also doesn’t load without any internet connection. Making the download of audiobooks useless. The migration of the new brand has been terrible. Lots of bugs, audiobooks are missing which I know should be there. Search is completely broken. Some button don’t even work. And the white player is ugly. I feel like this app missed proper quality testing before if was released. I work with apps all the time and we would never release something this broken. Any QA would detect these issues in test. I also don’t understand the new brand, it’s very eyes sore and bright the social account is so hard to look at. Killing my eyes sight. The name also is just meh. Nothing to do with books. I would have preferred if it stayed as Scribd and Everand was the documents app instead.
