Everdell 4+

As a big fan and supporter of Everdell, this app is such a welcome addition to my app based board game collection. It’s as beautiful as the board game with added cute sprites for the critters and a soothingly pleasant soundtrack.

It’s not without its bugs though, in solo play I often have to quit and reload the game as the game can’t or won’t let me play cards or place workers. Also, the close app bar on iOS is right we’re your hand is displayed, this causes a lot of inadvertent game closures.

Gripes asides, for £8.99 this is a superb game, and it doesn’t need internet for local play, only pvp.

I love the physical board game Everdell, so was excited to get the app. I’m really struggling to play it though: so much zooming in and out to see different parts of the screen and the detail on the cards. Some of the info displayed on the screen can end up obscuring objects/locations, depending on how you have it zoomed. I also don’t like the way the cards lose their names once you’ve played them into your town. I find myself constantly having to click on things or enlarge them in order to remind myself what they are, and then hold that in memory while I try to work out if anything else on the screen will work well with them. All in all, very frustrating, which is a shame, as it’s absolutely beautiful to look at.

Really fantastic version of a lovely boardgame. Unfortunately the grey swipe bar is positioned directly over the card names in the default view, there is no easy way to remove it yourself, needs to be removed by the app. Also even on a big phone the cards are too small even when you zoom in.
