Ratings and Reviews
Good for most people
I really love the idea of this app, however, with it being for chronic illness I felt sad to find that it starts much too challenging for me. I feel it should give the option to set your own starting point. I was looking forward to using the app for motivation but I can’t really use it. I’ll just have to motivate myself for now :) a 6 minute walk or 4000 steps might sound like not much walking, but for a lot of people with chronic illness, that is actually a huge achievement to aim towards & to look forward to. A lot of us can only walk a few steps upon starting. That one change could make this app So Much Better & much more helpful for so many sick people. Thank you
Developer Response ,
Many thanks for downloading iPrescribe Exercise and thanks for the feedback. The App is designed to be useful for people with a chronic illness so I'm sorry you haven't found it fully helpful. I could make the following suggestions;
- We have just this minute added a very low intensity interval video (Interval Training 1) with 30 second of work interspersed with 20 seconds rest periods. This may be helpful.
- You don't need to complete all your prescription in one go. In fact we actually encourage people to do multiple small sessions a day with rests in between and this can often help if you have a chronic illness.
- If you are struggling to make the full prescription in a day, then just do what you can manage and use that as a starting point to gradually build.
Thanks for your review and if you'd like to, we would love to hear in more detail about how we can improve the experience. We are currently actively developing the App and would love as much feedback and ideas from users. You can email me at email@example.com if you would like.
New motivation for me-during the Covid pandemic whilst I work and shield from home.
I have been shielding since March 2020 and working from home. My routine is different from prior to Covid 19 and I no longer drive to work or move around the workplace doing my job. It is very easy to shut the door at home in an attempt to avoid family distractions whilst I tap away on the keyboard. You suddenly realise you have sat at your desk without moving for over an hour. The EXi app has helped me be much more determined to plan a morning walk and something at lunchtime. I have had to estimate my heart rate and I was useless at recording it accurately. Even so the perceived exertion scale the app uses has allowed me to realise I wasn't burning enough calories to lose any weight but I do know I have been active. It gives you clear feedback of what you have done day after day, week after week. A very simplistic reward comes up telling me whether I have achieved a bronze, silver or gold star for my efforts that week - just a message to say well done. That's all I should need really because I am doing it for me and not anyone else. So the EXi app is good motivator... it is like a conscience on your shoulder.
Thanks Arti for being there
Developer Response ,
Thank you very much for the review and really glad you like using EXi. I'll also pass on to Arti who is brilliant with her support. Any questions or comments in the future, do let us know. Thanks! Lewis - EXi.
It’s great for when you haven’t got a lot of time and can fit in a 15 or 30 minute class into your day, however as I suffer with my back it started me on low intensity but now I’m on a moderate intensity which is fine but I find it very disheartening when I’ve tried my best, done a class only to be told at the end of it I’m not working hard enough, I do as much as can physically manage
Developer Response ,
Hi there, thanks so much for your review! I'm glad to that you are getting benefit from the exercise videos, but so sorry to hear you are feeling disheartened due to the heart rate and exertion tracking at the end. Please do email firstname.lastname@example.org, I'd love to have a chat about different options to keep you active but not getting disheartened! Sarah - EXI
