Description

EōN produces infinite and ever evolutive music composed by electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre, accompanied by a constant progression of organic visuals.

EōN is a new relationship to "recorded" music as we have always known it by immersing the listener in an endless sound (and visual) experience, like an album whose duration would have no fixed limit.

EōN produces an infinite music, in constant evolution, abundant in variations, composed by electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre, accompanied by a constant progression of organic visual elements.

Once the EōN app is activated, you will listen and watch a new unlimited music experience constantly unfold, designed to be absolutely unique for each listener, always different each time the app is launched.

You can enjoy a different journey everytime, listening as many times and as long as you want, the only limit being your device’s battery!

In addition, once downloaded, EōN is fully autonomous requiring no internet connection. Thus it is possible to launch the app anywhere and at any time.

JEAN-MICHEL JARRE ABOUT EōN:
"-Eon- the name of an ancient Greek God associated with unlimited time and eternity.

I named this project EōN as it symbolizes exactly what it is: an infinite musical and visual creation, which offers to everyone a unique experience, which will never happen again: on each device and each activation of the application EōN, you will hear and see an ever-evolving orchestration of music and visuals. EōN is an endless organic work, never repetitive, that will live and grow indefinitely at your fingertip.

Like in life, every moment lived in EōN will never happen again.

Personally, I truly feel that EōN is probably one of my most exciting creative projects since Oxygene. I always wanted to create a specific music for each listener, able to evolve constantly in terms of rhythms, tones, tempo, melodies and textures. Here it is. EōN is conceived and composed as a different journey for everyone, with no end determined.

I had a clear idea of the organic, living visuals I wanted to accompany my music, and I was very lucky to spend some time in Tokyo at Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. (Sony CSL), where I discovered Alexis André and his singular visual world. Sony CSL with Alexis have conceived and developed an algorithm generating an endless flow of ever-evolving graphics, which, like the music, are infinite and never repeatitive.

The algorithm and audio engine that orchestrates the music of the EōN app have been engineered by Alexis Zbik & Vianney Apreleff from BLEASS after defining the rules of the system together. "

Superb

I don’t tend to pay for apps and certainly not this much. Having read reviews, seen an online demo and listening to online examples I took the plunge. No regrets. So simple to use if you enjoy JJ sounds or soundscapes. Melodies and beats follow each other as if listening to endless new JJ albums. The odd one doesn’t work - no problem, just restart. Similarly, there are times I wished I could record awesome sections to use in own imaginary compositions - shame I don’t play but I bet many musicians and JJ fans could and do. There is/was a competition going so I look forward to the results. Can you interact with the app? No. That would be cool though. Perhaps through a menu that lets you make some choices during a piece or at the start by stating fave JJ pieces and the app constructs around it.
Altogether, this comes as a must for JJ fans who wished they could hear more of his music. Honestly, this works.
Btw, first ever JJ experience was as 16 year old borrowing vinyl Concerts to China from library in 1984 and after intro heard Overture followed by Arpégiateur and Equinoxe lV; I was blown away! Electronic music and trance have been my daily diet ever since.
I have missed new decent music like that of JJ and TD (early work) so glad with this app. Please keep updating it.

Dive right in.

Having spent many hours now playing this app both in the background while doing other things and right up front and immersed fully while watching the gorgeous visuals, overall I can’t recommend it highly enough. It goes where it likes, does exactly what it wants and takes you exploring with it. Sometimes it’s a slow, gentle trip sometimes it’s breakneck speed. Sometimes it’s both. Sometimes it’s neither.

It forces you to live in that exact moment right there, as at any time you may hear a beautiful passage of music or a transition for the first time knowing that you may never hear it exactly like that ever again due to the nature of the app. It’s fleeting, absorbing, exciting, surprising and spontaneous. Just how I like my music to be, I know that nature of it may drive some people crazy who like soak into the music they’re playing and get to know it with repeated listens but for me it’s perfect.

Jarre, but not as we know it

I have deep respect for Mr Jarre who created unique, otherworldly sounds with those early albums, still sounding streets ahead of anything now. Sounds electronically crafted and samples from his own recordings manipulated in the now legendary Fairlight. so why am I hearing familiar loops and samples from vst synths like Stylus RMX and Omnisphere ? There are some very nice ambient pieces now and again but when the drum loops kick in it kills it for me and I have to press reset. I am sure as this, as a growing app, will be developed along the way with a larger library of sounds but I would just like to hear sounds made with the Jarre stamp and not off the shelf loops that are available to all. I just want that same kind of excitement as when I first heard Zoolook, which blew me away with it’s off the wall innovation. I do hope more of his old library of sounds are released into this app in the future. Even samples from the wonderful piano track on Waiting For Cousteau would be nice to hear in this kind of app. For me also the graphics could be more varied as they seem a little pedestrian after a while but I am sure it will grow and have every faith in JMJ to deliver.
