Over five million people in England and Wales live and work in properties that are at risk of flooding from rivers or the sea. Are you one of them? Flood Alert enables you to quickly check the current situation both nationwide and in your local area.
Everyone in an 'at risk' area should be aware of flooding and keep an eye on the water levels and weather situation, even when on the go. You can do this by checking the flood forecasts and the river and sea levels on the Environment Agency or Natural Resources Wales websites, by listening to local news and weather forecasts or now by simply opening the Flood Alert application on your smartphone or tablet.
Using the live flood warning feeds provided by the Environment Agency, CH2M has developed Flood Alert to enable you to quickly, efficiently and conveniently monitor flooding in areas that are important and/or close to you. These data are updated every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day.
Flood Alert allows you to monitor:
· live status of flood alerts that are relevant to the users current location (within 5km radius)
· live status of flood alerts for up to two user defined locations such as a home, office, or elderly relative’s house (within 5km radius)
· live flood alert information displayed by regions, counties (unitary authorities) or local authority areas
The application also provides practical guidance on how to be prepared and what to do when it floods, together with associated links to the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales websites. It also allows you to directly contact FloodLine, the Environment Agency’s free flood warning service in order to obtain further information.
Note that by installing this app you are agreeing to the associated Terms and Conditions.

Needs a map and place names
This is potentially a lifesaver... But the alerts and locations are vague and technical. When time is short we need precision. Especially this year when j seem to be consulting the app almost every week.
1. River Aire lower catchment - where is that exactly? Is it near Eggborough?
2. River ouse tidal - 2.8m at westmill foods with high tide at 1.30am. How high does it have to get before it floods? What's the tide likely to add?
3. We need a map so we can see where these things are, especially when away from home.
Get this right and the benefits could be huge
Can't log in, reset password or even create a new account as the timer just hangs.
Update: Finally logged in after signing in with new account, despite never receiving confirmation it was even created!
There is no point in registering in any case. You can just use 'Near me' to view your property if you're home but if you aren't then you have to log into the app constantly as there are no notifications. Hardly lives up to its name with NO ALERTS!
For me, no notifications is a deal breaker. I'll wait for the environment agency flood alert text.
Thanks for listening to all the criticism about the font. Now much clearer - also faster loading. A real improvement. Thanks!
