Fractal Bits is a drum synth with over four billion unique sounds created by fractal algorithms.
Each set of 12 drums corresponds to a code of 8 characters (you can save/copy/paste it as plain text).
Features:
* Audio Unit Extension (AUv3), Audiobus;
* search for new sounds with three buttons: next random set, edit code, previous set;
* three types of keyboards for live drumming: on-screen buttons, PC keyboard, MIDI input;
* several processing parameters + control via MIDI;
* real-time audio recording to WAV (32-bit);
* export to: WAV (one file or a set), SunVox (samples + effects in one file), text clipboard;
* the LCK button freezes individual drums - they will not change during the search for new sets;
* Wi-Fi export/import.
Double clicking on a parameter opens a window for setting the exact value.
If you enable the Hold option, the notes will play endlessly, without reacting to key release (noteOff) events; turning the note on again works like turning it off; there are two ways to enable this option:
1) using the Hold parameter in the "MIDI Mapping" window;
2) by pressing the HOLD button, which appears in place of LCK while playing the musical keyboard: press HOLD, release the desired notes - then the released notes will continue to play.

Inspiring, intuitive & utterly addictive! 🐰
Another incredible release from this much loved veteran developer. This drum machine is wonderful and so intuitive and instantaneous to pick up and get lost in (plus it sounds scrumptious) generating practically infinite lush sonic textures, shapes, colours and transients. I’ve always loved fractals since the 80’s after spending my childhood generating Julia, Mandlebrot and Chaos Set’s on the Atari ST (whilst also being attacked by them via Geoff Minter’s classic ‘shoot-em-up’ Lamatron)! Everything about this software rocks and the GUI is so cool and original! Thank you so much for creating this wonderful electronic percussion instrument which is a must have for any drum freaks out there …brilliant!
Loving it
Was eyeing up a volca drum to complement my sample based drum machine and A4 with some digital drum hits - this little app has saved me dropping £150. Love being able to slightly mutate individual sounds to give a palette of subtle varying drum hits. Some great textures to load into sampler and loop/pitch shift / mangle.
Looking forward to creating a whole sample library from these as the basis of a new dark techno project.
Great idea, great fun, great price!
For under a couple of quid, this is such a good buy. Tapping the control to generate a new set of sounds is addictive. The app is also genuinely useful, and being AU3 fits in nicely with other drum apps to build up a unique sound.
