My favourite app

This is my favourite app! I’m a singer and have performing and playing guitar for years but I only know cowboy chords. I’ve always wanted to improve and bought countless books but could never get my head around it. This app has changed all that! I’m now learning the notes on the guitar fretboard and it’s designed so well that I’m using it consistently, clocking up the hours and really feel like I’m progressing. I can take it at my own pace which is great. Seeing the stats motivates me to keep going too. I’ll be moving on to learning staff notes next and then naming chords. I really recommend it. Thanks so much to the devs, you rock! 🎸

Almost great! Double answers though...

I’m using the paid guitar version and absolutely love this app but have run into a frustrating issue: doing the ‘name chord’ game having the root revealed makes it way too easy, but having the root hidden makes the game tell me some answers are wrong when they’re not. If including chords where there could be more than one root, such as aug, dim7 or sus2/sus4 the app sometimes offers more than one correct answer but punishes me for choosing the ‘wrong’ one, e.g. it shows me G, C, D, which could be a Gsus4 or a Csus2, but the answers include include both, and only Gsus4 is correct because it decided the root (which I can’t see) was the G. Can you please fix this by making sure the answers only ever show one correct answer? I appreciate the app may have one dedicated root even if you don’t want it shown, so I think the fix would be to make a list of ‘don’t show these together’ and include any matches in that list. Hope that makes sense, it’s a great app otherwise!

P.S. I’m a guitar teacher and a great feature to add would be to specify the notes in ‘name note’ to fit within a scale, so not just all sharps and flats between frets 0 and 4, but just G major, so only F# and naturals for others. If we could include multiple scales it could add them in any order, but probably listing in circle of 5ths would make sense (so naturals, then add F# or Bb, then C# or Eb, etc.)

Hey Guitarqadhi, I did not think of this issue and will see what I can do. These are all great ideas. If you think of any others you can always e-mail me at contact@strongapplications.com. Thank you for your support!

Great app but……

This has been a great app and would have got 5 stars however……..I got the app on my phone, paid for the guitar, only to find I can’t use it ad free on my iPad! Disappointed to be asked to pay to use it without adverts on the iPad. Seems like once you’ve paid for it you have to pay again to use on another device. That’s a bit like a craftsman having to pay for the same tool twice just because they move it from one toolbox to another??
Update on previous review - The folks at Fret Trainer got in touch and helped me sort the problem out very quickly. Turned out to be a quick fix. I’ve increased it to 4 stars. Would be 5 if the stats could be backed up to the cloud but other than that this is a really handy app for practice on the go!

You do not have to pay for it twice. Please login to the same Apple account on your iPad and tap the "Restore In-App Purchases" button on the main menu.
