Great app, shame about the plastic UV torch
Can’t see who to give this feedback to, but I thought it was a shame that every child completing this challenge receives a plastic UV torch (imported from China) in their activity pack, which is incapable of being used for anything other than this trail and with no way to hand the torch back in at the end for another child to reuse. Really wasteful. Couldn’t there just be a button on each clue post to illuminate it?

Thanks for your comments. We want to cut down on single use plastic as much as possible and put a lot of thought into how the UV element (which reveals the clues) could work.
We felt that a pen torch would be a good solution, offering children something they can use long after finishing the trail.
The packs have lots of educational and fun activities that the children can take home and use their pen to complete. We hope this trail will help young people begin a life-long relationship with the environment and the forests we care for. It is quite easy to take the pen apart and the main trunk of the pen and the batteries are recyclable.
Screen time in nature??
Why are we encouraging children to walk with a phone or iPad? I thought the whole idea of going in to nature was to leave the screens at home. Sad that another money making scheme needs to be aimed at children once again. Also just to add. £3 includes a single use uv light (there isn’t even a pen attached for kids to get extra use from), glossy paper activity sheet, mask... it is not only over priced but unnecessary. What message are we sending to the next generation? Most know our current position with the (lack of) recycling going on in the uk and that’s after being conscious and putting it into the recycling bin. I have never written a review before for an app but this “glow trail” should be reviewed by its creators.... that’s after considering the state the climate is in, the screen time children now have and the messages we are sending to the next generation. Come on....

The trail aims to get children active in the forest. We've found that it's helped to encourage those who might not otherwise connect with their environment to explore and get active!

All the money made from the packs goes back into managing the forests for generations to come. The income allows Forestry England to plant more trees, while managing England's forests for wildlife and people.
I downloaded the app before going on our walk. The kids loved finding the clues and using the UV torch. They also loved doing the challenges the app sets you to do. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk but was made more fun with the app! Thank you!!
