Import and view GPS eXchange format (GPX) files. GPX-Viewer views GPX files exported from many GPS devices and other apps that create GPX files.

Import GPX files using iTunes file sharing, eMail, an URL, the pasteboard or from the Cloud (includes iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, your local device, etc).

- Choose Apple Maps, Google Maps, OpenStreetMaps, or a custom map tile source URL.
- Create and share the following charts:
— Elevation vs track points.

- Send the waypoints to various map apps such as Apple and Google Maps.
- Email the file.
- Optionally disable screen auto-lock to keep the device from sleeping.
- Create folders to better organize your GPX files.
- Preview the tracks for all files within a folder.
- Import GPX files to the current GPX file.
- Customize the color for waypoints, track points, routes and tracks.

Pretty good

This app has improved a lot since I first used a while ago, and I now have the GPX Editor on my Mac as well. On iOS, I can import and view my gpx tracks using whatever map is best, and that can vary according to where I am at the time. I’ve not given 5 stars though, because the GPX import is a bit naff - you have to open the Files list before anything gets imported, which invariably means a double run at the import as the list is never open when I just Open-In from another app.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your interest in GPX-Viewer. The File list issue has been fixed in the latest release.

Not much use for iOS devices

This app may actually be quite good at handling GPX files, but I’ll never know, because I cannot work out any way to get a .gpx file from the downloads folder of my device to this app on the same device. In ten years that I’ve been using an iPhone, almost every other app I’ve used has a way to handle receiving files from elsewhere on the devices. Sometimes quite a convoluted way, but there is nevertheless a way, so it is possible for you to do the same. I refuse to use iCloud, because I don’t like being constrained in my choices and this app lazily conforming to the Apple diktat does not leave me inclined to think favourably of it. If you are only going to offer support for cloud files, fine, offer support for a wider variety of providers. Not even Dropbox or Google Drive, really? That is the bare minimum of cloud support. Alternatively, fix your app to include a Files folder, so people can import files that way. And if you’re not prepared to do any of that, give me back my £1.99, because this app is completely useless to me as it is.

Developer Response ,

The Cloud button has access not only to iCloud, but to all other cloud services such as DropBox, Google Drive and more. Furthermore it gives access to local files on your device. Don’t be afraid to tap the Cloud button to access these features. See the online help for more info.

Good but not perfect

Wanted a GPX analysis tool to export GFXBench from cycle app to give detailed feedback as you get with strava and other apps. One basic feature I cannot find is the ability to change units from km to miles and metres to feet etc. Expected the option in settings.

Developer Response ,

The app uses the units that are set in your phones General->Language & Region settings.
