HERE WeGo Maps & Navigation 4+

I like the and I mainly use it as my alternative when I do not have coverage on my primary navigation app.
The only reason this is not my primary app is because if the voice guidance options: There are only two options, no voice or full text to speech. The text to speech does not work well in English (and possibly other languages )when driving in a foreign language country as what comes out is just jibberish most of the time.
Would it be possible to add a middle option where we can have voice guidance but the app does not attempt to (wrongly) pronounce every street name? All other navigation apps I tried have this option.

*Update* OK I have discovered that this new version thinks the whole of London is a toll road, which my settings are set to ‘avoid’. I turned this setting off and it is behaving more normally, ie it is not sending me all round the North and South Circular to get across London, and it is also giving me a choice of routes. I guess the new version can’t tell the difference between the ULEZ and the Congestion Charge Zone. Anyway, I’m leaving my review at 1* until I have tried it again. I still don’t understand why they changed it so radically without any warning, deleting all maps, all saved places, etc.

Like many other reviewers I’ve used this app for years and while it wasn’t perfect it was great and, er, worked. But, like many other reviewers, I now find it basically broken. One example: today I was driving from North to South across London. The app was set to ‘Fastest’ route, and it wanted me to head North, and drive all the way round the North and South Circular, then North again, a journey time of 1hr 40mins. It gave me no alternatives (unlike the old version used to) so I went into settings and changed it to ‘Shortest Distance’ and it gave me a route lasting 40mins. So ‘Fastest’ adds an extra hour? There are many other problems, as per other reviews so I won’t repeat them, but the upshot is I need to find another app. Here I Go, it was nice knowing you

I was looking for a backup to my dedicated Garmin satnav. First tried Apple Maps but it won’t display your current speed when driving neither will it add an intermediate point (or via) on route - only offerings to show a selection of nearby petrol stations, cafes, shops etc. Google maps also won’t display current car’s speed and also overloads me with too many points of interest on the map when I am driving. I just want clear navigation instructions and not every business that has paid for an advert on Google! Plus Google’s latest colour change used in its maps (2023) is awful for driving as minor roads are nearly the same colour as the background in rural areas. Why don’t they simply use the national road colour? In UK that is blue for motorway and green for A roads. Simple, clear, and understood by all drivers in the country.

The above apps may be fine for planning a trip offline, but Here We Go wins out hands down when actually driving and trying to navigate a route.

So I find I am using it more and more.
