iA Writer 4+

I've been using the iOS version for a while and it's also really good. I love the text colouring (like in coding) and it makes the obvious mistakes really stand out. I'm enjoying the added functionallity of the MacOS version and the iCloud syncing makes working across platorfms really easy.
Side by side markdown/preview is incredibly useful.
I bought iA Writer in an attempt to improve my writing skills and produce content for web sites.
Squarespaces' rendering of some of the Markdown can be a bit disapointing compared with the preview version but that's to be expected. The iA Writer website guides to improving your writing were also really useuful, so it looks like the company takes what they do really seriously. Good to see and looking forward to a long relationship with iA.

As a dyslexic, I've always struggled writing in every sense of the term. I've struggled with writing messages, assignments to blog posts. I have heard good things about IA Writer so I decided to give the trail a spin to see if this app could motivate me to write. I can happily say IA Writer is an absolute saviour to me.

Because of my dyslexia, I usually end up missing words and muddling my sentence structure. With IA Writer I've found myself missing no words or phrases, thanks to the fantastic Syntax Highlight tool which offers a simple visualisation of sentence structure, this means I now can proactively catch missing words and muddled sentences.

Writing has been an absolute joy during the trial period, and I just had to purchase this app because I find it so useful. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who struggles with writing.

On a sidenote, I also love that IA Writer uses Markdown. I work as a digital designer, and IA Writer fits perfectly into my workflow as it allows me to write copy for systems like Jekyll without having to restructure anything.

The only thing I would like IA Writer to add is a "preview" button in the touchbar. I can't configure that at the moment and it would be nice to have.

I've used IA Writer since its early days, with some periods where I've relied on its main competitor (Ulysses). What brought me back to IA Writer were the templates (which allow inclusion of a company logo in the header, for instance) and the lack of a subscription model.

You might expect lack of subscriptions means a slow developing piece of software, but on the contrary the Style Check and improved speed in the latest release show a real commitment to adding useful functionality.

IA Writer is a very polished editor, with excellent Markdown support and a lot of flexibility. It doesn't lock in your files and has a very flexible template system. It looks good, runs across iOS and Mac and I've found it to be stable and reliable. I highly recommend it.
