Smart Watering
Knowing how long and how often to water your plants can be challenging. When set to smart watering mode, B-hyve takes the guesswork out of watering and utilizes Mother Nature, along with some really great technology, to determine the watering schedule for your yard. When set and left in smart watering mode, B-hyve can save users as much as 50% more water over a traditional controller.
Weather
When set in smart mode, B-hyve uses local weather data to determine how much water is evaporated and transpired through your plants each day to know when it needs to water. It also accounts for any rainfall that is in the forecast, shuts off the system for rain, then looks back to see how much actually fell. That’s smart! But all yards are not the same. B-hyve also takes into account things like soil type, plant type, sun/shade and slope to determine a watering schedule that takes the water to the roots and helps avoid runoff.
WeatherSense
If you want to be the one in control of the schedule, that’s okay too. With B-hyve you can set custom programs to water how you want while still taking advantage of the local weather data to override watering in case of a weather event. This will shut off your system during the rain and resume your program when the rain has passed. That’s smart!

So much better than complicated wall timers with dials and lcd displays. Easy and clear to programme, worked first time! Tip for buyers in UK/Europe who buy from Amazon/eBay in USA... power supply is 110v input so can’t use here - the existing 240v one for my old timer has same 24v output and works fine.

The app was disappointing because it quickly became apparent it had been designed for the indoor Orbit control panel driving solenoid valves. By adapting it to work with the hose faucet timer a lot of functionality does not exist. It appears that whoever adapted the software has no knowledge of running an irrigation system. As with the control panel unit multiple zones are needed for complete garden/greenhouse watering. The app only handles one zone at a time which makes it complicated to program. There is no overall view of the watering schedule so you have to be carful not to get overlapping times. You can only view or change a zone parameters by activating it. With multiple zones this can be a slow process. Once running though it performs OK. The Wi-fi setup was easy to setup and it works much better than the Hozelock wireless system I have been using. The water flow metering does not function. Battery life is good. In my first season batteries lasted most of the season which given the faucet only uses 2xAA batteries is exceptional. The battery level indicator does function but with multiple zones it is a real pain having to activate each zone one at a time to see the battery level.Recent updates have introduced nasty bugs that are a real concern. Now a change to a program results in the faucet not functioning to the revised program. Only solution seems to be deleting the program and inputting a new program. This is not what you expect from one of the leading suppliers of irrigation systems in the USA. I downgraded to 2 stars as a result of issuing faulty program updates.
One persistent problem

The app is great, but I’ve had this controller for a couple of months now and discovered a problem. I have 6 watering zones. They are all lawn except for zone 6. Zones 1-5 are using smart watering. Zone 6 is a flower bed. I have zone 6 programmed to water every day at the moment and every time I look at the app, the program is disabled. I enable it, close the app, reopen it and it’s disabled again. So I have to remember to do it manually. Was hoping it would get fixed in an update, but nothing yet
Better than the timer

Starting with this AM PM thing, absurd. Why not 24 hr clock as many of the rest of the planet have it. I will work this out but it seems to me it can only be programmed at the device. The App seems to be merely a link without full programming function. I could be wrong.I would say the kit does not really suit my application but it is better than the tap timer.There are so many mysteries in this bit of kit. I have it on a roof terrace where most is planted in containers, smart watering does not really work for such as rainfall does not penetrate and definitive soil/subsoil moisture levels are not monitored.
