The overall game play is great. I love the simplicity of the controls, however in time this does make the game a little limited. One of the best surf games I’ve played but the novelty is wearing off and is getting somewhat repetitive and boring. Hopefully some updates will add some variety to compete with manoeuvres seen in games like the journey etc...No major manoeuvres are recognised or that possible as it is simply about rotating. Barrel riding is great though It’s virtually impossible to get a 10 point ride. to gain levels up past level 11 takes forever. How anyone would get to level 30 is beyond me... but that’s not the point.I would love to see more locations, I would also love to see more boards without the ridiculous shell prices. Eventually you would be forced to pay which is not worth it at all... if this game would sell for a one off price, I would pay, but I would never in a million years consider any subscription to a game like this for any price. Which is such a shame as this has so much potential!
Has potential, needs a lot more content

True Surf looks fantastic, the wave effects are truly impressive and I love the idea of surfing the current wave conditions around the world. The control are also good once you get the hang of them and it plays very well. BUT this game needs a lot more to make it truly appealing. First of all there needs to be more information for people like me who’ve never surfed before: what do the different wave types mean, what do different boards offer, how are your runs scored, how are points awarded etc. At the minute you just surf, some scores come up, you surf again. You don’t know what affects your score, you don’t know what constitutes a good run or how you’re actually meant to be surfing the waves so it’s a lot of guesswork, really. Also it’s dull - there’s no career, no competition, no rivals, nothing, just you surfing on your own and that’s it and that gets boring very quickly. There need to be competitions at the surf spots against rivals, some kind of career mode, something to give the game depth. Also, it should be made clear that you don’t unlock new surf spots, merely gain the ability to pay to surf there, which seems mean. Also, why should I bother to put in the effort for a good run when I can fling myself off waves doing 180s and get the maximum 40 points time after time and level up in minutes? There’s also no incentive to buy a different board as I don’t understand the difference between them and the beginner board has really good stats. I enjoy playing the game but there’s no depth and it needs a lot more content to make it a contender.
Potential for greatness

So I’ve played the game for around a year and a half on and off and I’ve picked up a few good and bad points. Let’s start with the good: the game really does what it says, there is a semi realistic surf environment that you can get lots of satisfaction and enjoyment from however the bugs simply break the game, bugs such as resetting waves, not counting missions as complete, wsl events bugging out and even on large waves the engine just crashes and is glitching out constantly when your on the wave. A good bug recently is a ton of coins have been given out to players for completing challenges which means we can finally buy boards (so I say keep that one)
I would give four but…

The three stars for me are because i have so much fun playing and trying out new boards and surfing my favourite wave (skeleton bay) super super fun to do combos with airs and barrels. But… its so hard to level up and buy actually decent boards so that ruins the idea of four stars for me as they are big problems which restrict getting travel tickets, perfect storms and the currency in the game. I would love to surf more boards and its so hard to save up which is frustrating. That aside the graphics of the game are not amazing but i appreciate the simplicity and the work already done on it. The physics are not realistic yet but they are manageable. For 5 stars- the graphics need to improve, players need to be able to access better boards easier, levelling up should be less of a mission and the rewards slightly greater and adding some new features to the game as nothing has really changed
- Minor bug fixes
