I have come to rely on this app, it really helps me cut down on phone use in a practical way. It’s expensive but until recently I thought it was money worth spending. However, I will not renew my subscription when it comes round unless Freeform reinstall the option to start and stop your session by time of day rather than a countdown timer. I don’t like the programmed regular session option (usually means it comes on when I need something), and find working out how many minutes and hours I need it on for each session fiddly. Being able to switch it on in the morning whenever I was ready, and select midday as the end of the session was my preference, just much more convenient than working it out each time, which is always different depending on when I switch it on! Because the app is quite expensive, I’m afraid I won’t be paying for it next year unless this basic feature is reinstalled (you can do all other appointments, alarms etc on iPhone by time, don’t see why not here). Which is a shame, because otherwise the effect of this app is transformative for me.

I have a serious shopping addiction and spend far too much time online. I have blocked access to my favourite shopping sites and take away food services 24x7x365 across all my devices. In my case, I was compulsively purchasing art and craft materials. I also blocked my favourite stores blogs and Lookbooks so I couldn’t ogle them longingly. I’d spent enough money over the previous 16 months to put down a deposit on a property and blown any attempt at budgeting. Now, If I really want to make a purchase from those sites I’ll need to visit a friend and request use of friends tablet/laptop to make a purchase. At first I felt agitated and restless - even though it was fully my choice to withhold access. I constantly pondered when/ how I could reasonably purchase my favourite items again. Since blocking access ( 6 weeks ago) I find I am craving to shop far less. I feel far more relaxed when considering the possibility of not ever completing my craft collections. I will likely always have a compulsive shopping tendency but this Freedom app has given me a much needed layer of control, that I was unable to do on my own. Worth every penny of the discounted lifetime access I purchased 😍.

I’ve been using this app for a while and it’s been a game changer! It’s easy to get to grips with, and you have the options to block access to specific websites and apps, or block access to the internet altogether, for however long you choose. You can still open certain apps while a block session is active but you’ll find they don’t refresh or load content, and other apps like Facebook and Instagram can’t even be accessed.You can create different blocklists of chosen websites/apps and start block sessions either ad hoc or on a regular schedule (i.e. I have a blocklist for bedtime and it’s active from a certain time of night, every night). You can also make it so that you can’t override a block session once it’s active. If you’re like me and have little self control, this is a vital feature and makes such a big difference!I’m so glad I found this app and highly recommend it if you want to limit your phone use.

I still want to give this 5 stars as the limitations are with apple rather than this app. It is immensely helpful for me, I have scheduled everything blocked in the morning so I’m not tempted to stay in bed scrolling, and at night so I can put my phone down and go to sleep. I need to force myself to open the app every so often, or switch off low power mode to make the sessions activate, but that takes 3 seconds of will power, and fortunately I’m usually capable of that!The only downsides are those of the phone, the vpn is a good workaround but it does slow everything down, and sometimes I find it isn’t active and give myself “just 5 minutes…” but really it’s improved my life greatly, I’m mother to an adopted child with severe and complex needs and this helps me sleep enough to be the kind of parent he deserves.
