Awful customer service and some hefty bugs

I used to LOVE the app until one day I opened the app and all my data of 6+ months was deleted. I used the app on a daily basis and loved the whole concept which helped me learn tons of words. However, their customer service is horrific! They only know how to respond with generic answers and when they can’t solve the issue they basically tell you to sort your self out. I fortunately managed to get a refund and then started looking for a similar app, however, I couldn’t find one and weeks later I caved in and re-downloaded the app and started using the free membership. A few days ago I decided to repurchase the app because I wanted to get access to some of the paid features. Unfortunately, when I paid I did not get the pro features because of.. you guess it.. another bug. The customer service team told me I need to relogin, which I did and managed to get the pro features. Next day they were gone again, I had to relogin to get access to them again but then they disappeared again. The customer service team basically told me that relogin once solves the issue for everyone and completely dismissed the fact that it did not help me and they didn’t escalate my case to their backend team. They ghosted me so I just requested a refund because of obvious reasons! I am actually going to continue to use the free version as the app has some really good features but the moment I find a better app I will delete Wordup! Unfortunately, the past few days the app has been throwing me out in the middle of learning words. It also doesn’t always show me all 4 options when I need to select the right answer so that eats away my 3 hearts per day😒

Useful but lacks motivation element

I have been using this app for a while and this is very useful to expand your vocabulary when reviewed regularly. I find constant reminders of word definitions useful to solidify the them for my long term memory, however I find that the app lacks a motivational element. I have not been using it everyday and I think achievement like 5 day streak or achievement for learning 20 new words will help motivate me to use it everyday. Other improvement points are using visual aid or synonyms and antonyms to help remember the definitions better. Some of the words have synonyms listed but not all do. I have noticed when flicking through words words you are not familiar with, there are some unnecessary ones, such as, the definition of martyrdom is suffering or death of a martyr which will be better suited if only the definition of a martyr is included. Also, I think some of the words do not need to be included which includes slang or abbreviations like ‘aka’. To summarise, I would suggest having a review of words included in the app and the biggest improvement point is to include an achievement element to help motivate users. Overall I think this app is the best out of other vocabulary building apps.
