1Blocker lets you block obtrusive ads, sneaky trackers, and annoying elements on sites. With 1Blocker, you’re safe online and nothing will distract you from enjoying sites. 1Blocker is very easy to use — just flip a couple of switches to start blocking ads and trackers. The app will automatically receive cloud updates to the built-in filters silently, so you don’t need to do anything. It’s as simple as setting and forgetting. 1Blocker is a fully native app designed to extend Safari naturally. It’s lightweight and doesn’t drain your battery by taking up your device’s resources. The blocking itself is super fast because Safari does it itself. We only provide filters to Safari and don’t modify webpages in any way. This vastly improves efficiency because Safari knows in advance what should be blocked. So, with 1Blocker, sites load on average 2-5x faster. It’s important to note that not all ads can be blocked though. Some sites use techniques that make it impossible for us to block their ads using currently available features for Safari content blockers. SECURE BY DESIGN 1Blocker is secure and private. The best ad blocker bar none

Been using 1Blocker since pretty much day one of its release, and I do not begrudge a penny that it has cost, and frankly it’s peanuts anyway. Yes there are free blockers out there, and yes they’re not bad, but no, they aren’t as comprehensive as 1Blocker, and that was before the latest upgrade to blocking app tracking, which is probably the most insidious form for most phone users, as, as the majority of people have no idea it goes on and certainly not to the extent it does. The cost is virtually nothing, the developer of this app has to earn a living, and if they didn’t charge something, how else would they do it, ad’s???? Try using the internet without a blocker as good as this and you’ll soon realise what you’re paying for. If you don’t like the price, stop paying £3 for a coffee, that’s the biggest scam around.

It’s a one off purchase not an annoying subscription like most apps are trying for these days. For less than 2 beers you get the best blocker out there. I found it frustrating that the older version is no longer rated 5 stars because people are moaning that they upgraded that app only for this new one to come out and calling the dev greedy. That app was over two and a half years old and we seem to live in a world where people want everything for free and forgot that the dev needs to earn an living.So in short if you want the best app for blocking the ever increasing rubbish on the net and are not deluded to think that quality is free get this app.

Once great, but categories let it down

This was once one of the best blockers on the market. However, changes to the category groupings have made it unusable. Previously (and still on the desktop version), EU cookie notices, crypto-miners, and other annoyances were in separate categories. Now they are grouped together under “Annoyances”. The problem with this is that some sites are broken by blocking EU Cookie notices, as it’s a legal requirement. A site breaking because you blocked a crypto miner is fine (that probably isn’t a site you want to use anyway), but almost all sites have cookie notices. Before you could turn off blocking for those categories independently, now you either have to deal with cryptominers and such as well, or have lots of site break.If they bring back granular categories then it would be 5 stars, as the basic ad-blocking is great. But 1Blocker X is sold and priced as much more than an ad-blocker and design changes have made those features broken.

Once great, but categories let it down

I got this app when it was very first released and it costed a pretty penny. I didn’t mind as I had legacy before and trusted the security. The reason for the large price tag is that was in the description of the app it was stated there wouldn’t be any more in app purchases.I revisit the app and there is a subscription option and the app being a one time purchase and will always get free updates has gone. I feel like this a very disingenuous to the customer and my trust for it has been knocked.I do understand that this is a indie app and you do need financing it’s more like you have gone back on your word when this app was first created.

I apologize if the latest major update created such an impression, I see that there's been a misunderstanding. We strived to avoid any negative impact on the existing customers, and the new app still offers the same conditions for you. You should have access to multiple blocking categories, custom rules, iCloud Sync, etc. at no extra cost. The rules are still updated with every 1Blocker release to the App Store, just like it was before.The app is supposed to sync your previous purchase automatically. However, if it doesn't let you turn on multiple categories, please, reinstall it and use the Restore Purchase button in the Settings > Premium section.Basically, you are on the same business model unless you want to enable an additional feature that lets 1Blocker update the rules automatically. It is an optional feature, and as soon as 1Blocker recognizes you, it will offer a one-year trial for cloud updates in Settings > Premium. You can give it a try if you want. Otherwise, you can ignore the offer. It won't affect the rest of our app's functionality.Please, let us know if you still have any questions via support@1blocker.comWe will meet you there and guide you through them.
