Last night’s aurora recap for Pro users: - Sightings: See how many reports came in last night. - Global reach: Discover how many countries witnessed the Northern Lights. - Activity map: View exactly where the sightings were reported last night - Top moments: See community highlights and standout moments of the night - Peak real-time metrics: Check key stats, including minimum aurora strength and Bz levels. - Featured Photo: View the top-voted photo of the night and when it was captured. We also upgraded the Map screen (once again): - New filter bar: Easily filter cloud coverage, 30-minute sightings, and last night's reports with a quick tap. - Aurora oval toggle: Use the clean new chip to turn the aurora oval on or off instantly. - Past sightings: Check out exactly where the lights were spotted last night and 30 mins ago right on the map. - Update the text on summary: We noticed the forecast wasn't always clear or explanatory enough. What's new on the map - We’ve rolled out a series of upgrades to make navigating the Map screen and tracking aurora sightings smoother - Smarter clustering: Multiple Moments shared close together are now automatically grouped on the map. Simply tap a cluster to zoom in, or easily swipe through photos taken from the exact same spot. - New map filters: You can now choose to show or hide Featured Moments. Plus, Pro users can filter sightings to see only those reported in the last 30 minutes. - Organized Settings: Map settings have been completely restructured into three clear categories: Forecast, Clouds and Sightings so you can find what you need at a glance. - And of course, we catch the bug along the way. Such as: Moments shared while you are actively viewing the map now open immediately. Locations saved by older app versions now update seamlessly to your precise position. - We also tidy up layout whenever you report a new sighting. This setting can be change under Settings > Interface - Cloud coverage percentage: Add cloud coverage today into the home screen so you can see the percentage of the cloud cover easier - Guide: add Today's forecast to the Guide so you can see what is coming for today. - Sun: Add sunset hour, the aurora are often visible when the sun is completely set. What's new: - New home screen design: We simplified the details while keeping all the info and guidance you need to understand the forecast and see the Northern Lights tonight. This includes a new chart design and cleaner explanations. - Peak Hours: See today's best viewing hours based on historical sightings, so you know when the aurora may be visible tonight. - 27-Day Guide: See the forecast for the next 27 days, based on the past solar cycle. - Seasonal and Yearly Outlook: Find the best weeks of the year for aurora viewing and plan your trip. - Cloud coverage: Now available for all countries where the Northern Lights may be visible. We also updated the cloud cover overlays, improved land and map style with better brightness and contrast so you can see clear skies more easily. - Map screen: Refreshed the look for a smoother experience. - Clearer text: Updated wording across the app for easier understanding. - Onboarding: A new step-by-step guide through the app's main features. - Ciao to our Italian speakers! The end of the Northern Lights season is approaching, but we’re celebrating with a major update featuring your most-requested features! It has been an incredible year so far—14,000 auroras have been spotted by our community since January. After the success of the Aurora Passport, we’ve turned our focus to advanced notifications for Pro users. You now have control over how and when you’re alerted: - Distance-Based Alerts: Configure alerts by kilometer range. For example, set the app to only notify you when an aurora is spotted within 30 km of your location. - Choose to get notification only from aurora spotted reports with photos / Moments. - Intensity Filters: Choose the level of activity that triggers an alert. You can now filter sightings by Weak, Medium, or Intense to ensure you only head out for the brightest lights. - Substorm Strength: On very active nights, notifications can get chaotic. You can now choose to receive substorm alerts only when they reach a specific intensity. - Bz Value Triggers: The Bz value is a crucial indicator for aurora hunting. You can now set a custom threshold to be notified the moment the Bz value drops, ensuring you never miss the start of the dance. Big update is here!
 We’ve been working behind the scenes to make the app smoother, faster, and nicer for you to hunt the Northern Lights. Here’s what’s new: - Charts are clearer and more accurate: Numbers now line up perfectly and everything loads faster. - A better widget on iPhone: It now matches the location you set in the app. - Cleaner design: More consistent spacing, nicer rounded corners, and smoother animations everywhere. - Helpful warnings + messages: If there’s no internet or the server is down, the app will now clearly let you know. - Fun new like animation on the aurora moment: Tapping to like aurora photos feels even more delightful! - German language is now supported and in beta. - Added flag to the Moment so you know from which country the aurora was shared from - Improved onboarding & maps: Sign-up is easier, and we’ve removed some map layers to make things simpler and clearer. and last but not least, we did lots of improvements under the hood.
