Hi have looked or at least a week for a mthas app for my 5 turning 6 year old daughter who loves maths to help with homeschooling and this is everything I was looking for something that was colourful and engaging but still not a game as such for her to be learning the games all stat on a easy level but you can jump a level or two if they are finding it to easy the other thing is yes you have to pay £5 a month but this is the cheapest math app that is actually teaching her I have found x

I don’t generally subscribe to apps. But I made an exception for this one. I hope educate my youngest (age six) and although we already do quite a bit of maths I wanted an app to enhance her learning during screen time. I tried a few and this by far is the one that aligns with how we learn maths at home. A lot of discovery learning with a very wide focus rather than purely arithmetic. A few suggestions, if I may be so bold. It would be really helpful to have controls so a parent could set a module for the child to do. For example if we’re currently learning about algorithms at home, it would be great to be able to set a few algorithm tasks on the app. Another thing I’ve noticed is that the ‘help’ within a game (if a child is stuck) is a little too easy, and in some games (eg the counting snakes) even, eventually, tells the child the answer. Hints would be better. So for example with the snake game, let’s say a kid is stuck on ‘two less than 31’. Instead of ‘29’ being the hint bubble, why not suggest taking away one at a time (31-1, 30-1)? Or even hints from the genie or griffin saying something like ‘is there a way to break the problem down into smaller parts?’ or something like that. It really is a great app and I think a few little tweaks could make it even better.

the best maths app for young children

This is by far the best maths app for young children I’ve seen (and we’ve tried several). The mathematical content is very creative and not limited to basic arithmetics. The quality of animation is superb. Although there are occasional bugs in the games, we’re very much looking forward to new games and further development of the app.

I found this app on commonsensemedia and it’s really good. Both kids love it. I see that my son is very god with logic and my daughter with geometry. You can see all about their results in the menu for parents. I know what they like to play and their levels in each game.
