Captain Slocum
I use this for extracting drum tracks from published songs so I can more easily study and notate them for the band I play in, something it does brilliantly. I also use it to remove drums from tracks so I can play along to them. Easily 5 stars for this aspect. Not quite so perfect if you want to extract a track and then use it for commercial purposes on its own, there is inevitable bleed over from other tracks and some distortion (although it depends on how well the original track was made and recorded) but still very very good for something that does it automatically. I have spent hours in the past with pro software trying to do ther same thing and rarely got it as good as this app.

I have a lot of music software and when this came to me I thought its a promise that is to hard to achieve even for Ai tech. At the end of the day music is compressed, layered and lapped over in the mix so separation is impossible. You can segment but not separate. As I expected its severly lacking if you try to isolate a vocal that runs with a bass hit for example. You will find the vocal dips as the bass sound is cut from the mix. Meaning the vocal is effected in volume as if someone is putting their hand over their mouth on and off while singing. Its less of an issue with beats but you can normally loop beats without vocal somewhere in a track. Its a massive shame because this kind of tool could be the answer to some amazing remixes on the fly. The issue would be at high volume, through a PA undoubtably sound bleed. On top of this you don't seem to be able to upgrade Nueral mix Pro to its full App of DJ Pro so I feel I have wasted the money on the experiment of using this software. Only way I can see me using this is as a sketch pad for idea's then exporting into a more industry standard software like Logic then producing a track to play with the sampled sounds. I mean whats the point I could do that without this software its hardly on the fly. Maybe the DJ Pro software makes some sense of this but I don't think I will be investing further just in case its just 'smoke & mirrors'.In breif its not Pro kit its just called Pro. I'm sure they will try to improve it. I prefer what Traktor did with 'stems' just a shame they didn't have backing or power to push that because it was a great idea.

While both apps include Neural Mix's™ powerful capabilities, the two apps provide very different functionality. It sounds like you were referring to the on-the-fly mixing capabilities using Neural Mix which is available in our other app, djay Pro AI. However, NMP offers an AI-powered music player & editor for producers, DJs, and musicians, that allows you to create and export beat-precise loops, change tempo, and transpose the key of a song, all while removing vocals, percussive, bass, or harmonic parts in real-time. Poor on help!

This software is driving me up the wall! I simply want to export a track, but I can find no information on how to do it???? I basically need to select the track first but I can find no info on that. There’s a bit export button and export in the menu, but they don’t work unless something is SELECTED!!!!!!For me it’s 4 star for what it can potentially do but one star out of 5 so far. Please write software that is more obvious for dimwits like me!

This is a really useful quick'n'dirty way of getting material to make stems for your DJ mixes.There are some inevitable artefacts in the separated stracks… I quite like the little woozy sounds you get but YVMV…and a simple user-configurable gate would really help.One wrinkle (hence 4 stars not 5) you can separate the track into Vocal / Harmonic Elements (so guitar, keys, strings etc) / Bass and Drums. Cool – except when you choose Export there are buttons for Vocal, Harmonic, Drums and…uh…other.So there's one extra step to get the bass out. Not the biggest deal in the world but a low-level annoyance.Anyway, if you make mashups or use stems in Traktor or whatever this is a nice little toy to have.
