Original general knowledge articles that make you curious about things you never looked up. Screen time that don't feel wasted. Learn something new easily in just 10 min.
Nerdish is a learning app that helps you grow your general knowledge. The articles inside are our own — written to show you things you'd never thought to look up, feed your curiosity, and help you learn more about the world.
You can read them or listen to them, and most take about ten minutes: why people like spicy food, what Nefertiti actually looked like, how the internet crosses oceans.
What's inside:
- Articles we write ourselves. Each one starts with a question our editors find interesting, and gets researched properly before it's written.
- Topics from the life around you. Sleep, coffee, déjà vu, the internet, Nefertiti — things you pass by every day without wondering about them.
- Our own writing framework. It keeps every article interesting and concise, but still genuinely educational — a lot of thought went into getting all three at once.
- Built as microlearning for adults. Short chapters of a couple of minutes each, designed to fit a phone screen and a busy day.
- Audio for everything. Read it, listen to it, or follow the text while it plays.
- Historical photographs, archive material and artwork alongside the text, with facts and details in the margins.
- A wide range of subjects, from the human body to ancient history — and the connections between them.
We built Nerdish for people who:
- would rather spend phone time on something better than socials. Same ten minutes, different outcome.
- enjoy learning random things for no particular reason. Curiosity doesn't need a goal attached to it.
- want to stay mentally sharp. Reading something unfamiliar is a small habit that keeps the mind working.
- want to find their way back to reading. Short pieces are easier to start with than a book you've been meaning to open for months.
- want to have more to say — about art, history, or why the sky is blue.
Why it works:
There's no way to measure general knowledge and no point where you have enough. But it's what you're using when you read the news, or decide whether something sounds true, or find a solution that came from somewhere unrelated.
Hardly any of us sets out to work on our knowledge. Nobody ever taught us how — there's no course in general knowledge, nowhere obvious to begin. So it stays on the list of things you'd like to do.
Nerdish works because the mechanism is already there. Curiosity is what built your general knowledge in the first place, and it doesn't need much — an interesting question and ten minutes. And knowledge doesn't stay in separate piles. We write science with its history in it, history with its culture, and culture with the people behind it — nothing is only about one thing.
Pick a topic, read or listen, learn something you'd never thought to look up. That's how general knowledge grows.
Learn with us about:
- Health and the human body: sleep, memory, ageing, and how the body actually works.
- History: ancient empires, revolutions, great discoveries, and the people who changed things.
- Science and technology: space, evolution, physics, AI, inventions, and everyday phenomena explained properly.
- Daily things: why déjà vu happens, how coffee was discovered, where common ideas come from.
- Art and culture: painting, music, architecture, design, literature, and the movements behind them.
- Food: where dishes come from and why we like what we like.
- Famous people: the lives behind the names.

Love the app came across it and thought I’d try it out and I love the way it breaks down the reading into manageable chunks and the fun facts or did you know. Really helps someone like me with dyslexia. The only thing I’d wish the app had was a reference list or clear sources for us to do additional research or fact check as there’s no real proof of where the information is sourced from. And would be great to dive deeper so if that could be added that’d be even better!
Good app concept, but cannot verify articles and they often include grammatical mishaps!

I’ve been enjoying this app so far, it’s a nice way to do some light reading and learn things here and there instead of scrolling. However, it irritates me that there are no references or source material linked in the articles. Plus, I keep on reading quite obvious grammatical mistakes in these articles which makes that even harder to ignore, and makes me question the validity of what I’m reading (also just makes for a worse reading experience). Hopefully this is at least proof that the articles aren’t written by ai lol

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. We’re steadily reviewing and improving the articles, including grammar, clarity, and accuracy, but working through the full library takes time. Articles that have already been reviewed now show the date of their latest update.
Overall a great aid for learning!

I often find myself doomscrolling when i have nothing better going on, instead of doing that i now read on this app. I find it highly entertaining and an excellent outlet for learning. One question though is this app ai programmed? Thankyou
Developer Response
Thank you! We’re really happy the app gives you a better way to learn something interesting. We actually started building the app years ago, before AI became such a big part of everyday tools. Today, we do use AI along with other technology to help manage and keep our library of articles fresh and relevant across many categories. We’re glad to have you reading with us!
References? Writers?

Really interesting concept but I could not find any comment on the app or online regarding the background or academic authority of the writer(s) of the articles and there are also no references attached to the articles. It may be fun to feel like you’re learning but I have no idea who I’m learning from, whether they’re an expert in their field, and there is no way of verify their facts to determine their truth. If they can consider be more transparent with their process, I would consider re-subscribing.
Developer Response
We value and understand your concern, and everything we write in the app undergoes a rigorous and multi-staged fact-checking and editing process. We want to ensure we don’t spread misinformation and correct popular myths whenever possible. That said, we don’t aim to replace a university course or a thorough subject study on a particular topic. Instead, our goal is to provide an introduction and a basic understanding of as many topics as possible. We want you to be able to think critically and shape your studies on your own if a subject piques your interest. With that goal in mind, we want our texts streamlined and accessible to any reader. Texts interlaced with references would go against that. Generally, we write only things easily verifiable by an Internet search you can do yourself. Whenever we reference a particular piece of recent research, we leave cues in the text (like the name of the institution and the year of publishing), by which you can find the trusted source.
Every day is a chance to learn something new, and this version adds a new way to play with what you know.
- Links, a daily word game: find four groups of four words that share a theme. Every word comes from a Nerdish topic, and after each puzzle you can jump straight into the topics behind it. A new puzzle arrives every day, free to play. Find it in the new Play tab.
- Quiz, refreshed: a cleaner question screen and a new results page that shows your Nerdish level.
Plus small fixes and refinements for a smoother experience.
Thank you for reading with Nerdish. If you enjoy the app, a rating helps other curious minds find it.
