I have been using Universalis for a long time & love that it is being constantly updated, both liturgically & sensitively. As a Permanent Deacon I am grateful that it has covered the whole prayer of the Church (replacing the need to hunt through 3 volumes of The Office, not to mention both Sunday & Weekday Missals). I generally turn first to ‘About Today’ & have learnt so much about the saints of the Church, which otherwise one would not learn of. Commentaries by Dom Henry Wansborough & access to books about the Catholic faith are a source of inspiration & encouragement to take up ‘sacred reading’. By the grace of God, my wife is able to join me in reciting Morning, Evening & Compline prayer, & I love the Scriptural Rosary. May the Lord continue to bless Martin Kochanski & his team, and May many people be brought to a loving & close relationship with the Lord Jesus through your work.
Excellent App

As a way of structuring my devotional life - reading and praying the Scripture readings for the Mass of the day - this works really well. It also has a personal feel. I can read a little more about a Saint who is important to me and the commentaries on the readings themselves are perfectly pitched - not too long or short, wise and sometimes a little challenging but also helpful in explaining the context and some scholarly views which help make sense of obscurer passages or understanding why the Church has selected what it has. Above all I feel more connected with both the words of the Lord and his prophets and apostles, but also with my fellow Christians who I know are immersed in the same source of love and grace. After several years of use, I heartily commend the app!
A brilliant companion

This app is everything I could imagine needing. I was a bit skeptical at first, because Im trying to remove tech as much as possible, so didn’t want to bring it into my prayer. However this is the rare situation when the developer really gets the use-case,and caters for basically everyone without overcomplicating things, jamming in advertising or a subscription model. It’s also subtle and the dark mode means it doesn’t jar me out of a prayerful frame of mind or light up a gloomy church like other apps or hunting the web would.I just got an iPad basically as a Universalis machine, because the kindle stuff didn’t work as well as I’d like sadly, and travelling with missal/breviary is a fair weight.
Essential Divine Office

If you pray the Divine Office, the Universalis app provides you with the exact text that is in the volumes, but without the weight and complexity of learning how to find your way through the books. Not only that, but as we are blessed with new Blesseds and Saints, it quickly updates with their correct readings. If you are a member of a religious order, you can set it to show your own particular memorials and saints. If you wish, you can choose to pray the Office for the dead. There is literally everything in here that you would get in the books, and in fact more. For a one time purchase you will get years of updates and additions. I highly recommend it.
Some improvements in layout and a clearer explanation of the 2-year cycle.
