This application allows you to read one of France's newspapers of record in English. Le Monde editorially holds left of centre views, but reports factually with proper fact checking. It is owned 75% by The Fund for the Independence of the Press and 25% by employees, ensuring complete editorial independence. They are really pushing their English language edition, mainly for the UK and USA market. I highly recommend the newspaper as independent, factual and liberal news needs support in this post truth World.

Monde gives an unbiased view of the current world without political bias and unsullied with superficial news. I’m interested in European and American news without an editorial bias slanting the story from an English or American point of view. Seeing the world through the eyes of people who aren’t subject to British or American loyalties and education gives me a more balanced view of politics and conflicts affecting our world.

I have only recently taken out a subscription - which is the reason for only four stars - mainly to try to l improve my French. I have subscribed to The Times for many years and so far Le Monde seems to be ahead on quality of type of news and stories. The writing in the paper is certainly testing my knowledge of French but more importantly I am enjoying the different views and approach from across the channel.

I am using this to maintain and improve my French. It is also very useful to view events from a different viewpoint and the articles, generally, are of a higher journalistic standard with less apparent bias than that which pertains in the majority of the UK press.
This update includes bug fixes and performance improvements.
