I have been using Kobo for some years now. It is by far and away the best reading app available, as it’s flexible, well presented on the page, has a wide range of books in most genres and has great tech support when needed. It also has lots of offers, which over the years have become much better, with popular books included in the offers. For someone like me who usually reads daily, both hard copy and digital books, it’s a great app. BUT...... Why oh why, after years of Insiders trying to persuade Kobo to have a system where read books are marked as “finished” are we now back with “Unread”? It’s infuriating! I have literally hundreds of digital books, both classic and current fiction. Yes I can remember which classics I’ve read, but current fiction, when I buy multiple books at a time, no I can’t. The latest update has, yet again, changed all my “finished” books back to “unread”. It’s infuriating!!! And it will certainly stop me purchasing for quite some time as I try to sort out what has been read and what hasn’t. PLEASE sort this out! I wish I hadn’t updated the app. Too late now.

I really like Kobo but I opened the app on my Ipad yesterday to continue reading my book and my library was empty. Since then I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to retrieve my books and a popup asking me to rate Kobo keeps appearing so I am filling in this form in the hope that I will get my books back by doing so. I really like Kobo and download lots of books to read. I get mad that I receive lots of emails advising me of special offers from Kobo, 20% discounts, etc but none of the discounts ever apply to me because I do not live in the area where the discounts apply. I feel that my money is as good as anyone else's and as Kobo accept my money via my credit card they should give me their discounts, that they keep writing to me about!!

This App is horrible. It lost a number of books I had bought before they took over WH smith, and they would not accept that I had bought them so I had to buy them again, which I now regret doing but it was to keep a series together.Recently two books simply won’t work, if I try to read them they cause the app to crash and the only way I can get it back is by deleting it and re installing it which wastes time. And then I still can’t read those books.Customer support is useless,you keep getting replies from different people with no continuity about the issue in question. They suggested I use the reader on their web site which is OK, but you need an internet connection, and then, half way through a book it just lost my place entirely.This app is a complete waste of space on my iPad and I would just like to able to move all my books from kobo to an app that actually works, ideally Apple Books, but even kindle app is better than this. But of course I can’t move my books unless I buy them all over again so I am stuck with it.

Ruined by the new update!

Despite the low rating I actually loved using Kobo and was a very loyal customer through the years, however, recent changes to the app have meant that I must cancel my kobo plus subscription and go back to kindle. The new updates removed the light blue background which was the only colour I am able to use when reading, the other colour options cause eye pain and I have difficulty reading the words against the backgrounds regardless of screen brightness or font size - coloured backgrounds make it easier for my eye to see the words which is why I have went back to Kindle who offer a green background. I also think that the other features they offer cause disruption to reading such as being unable to view the book information whilst the book is open, you now must exit the book which I think ruins the flow I don’t know why they would remove this. The new update makes the app unusable and unappealing to me.
