Apple Map & Google Maps don’t work properly here in Korea, they are especially useless for walking or taxis.Naver has been excellent for transport navigation in particular and is mostly English friendly, translating several places into Korean. It falls down a bit for finding good places for food & drink vs Google Maps, but does have lots of pictures once you find places you want to check out.Overall very good app/start, a few integrations (like easy way to book taxis) and better discovery for attractions, restaurants & cafe’s would make it 5*
Functional but clunky

I feel like this app is still relatively young compared to bigger apps like google maps which cannot operate in Korea. Despite that, as somebody who uses Google Maps daily at home, I have to review NAVER accordingly. In general, the app has less information to show and is more difficult to use. The biggest issue I faced was quite significant lag when sending a request for directions between two places; something that I would expect Google maps to do instantly. Sometimes an error would be displayed in Korean for seemingly no reason, but usually after a delay of 5-10 seconds which can be frustrating when you’re under time pressure. Also, the English localisation is not great. It’s enough to get by, but sometimes it won’t be able to find a location unless you search for a very specific term. If you speak Korean I’m sure it’s a much better experience.I still recommend the app for anybody visiting Korea, but it has a long way to go before it can be compared to the bigger apps
Great app but recent changes are strange

Recent language additions are good but they didn’t add the option to change language in settings, which is basic stuff (coming from a dev). Also the design changes make it look more like google maps, more streamlined and lighter in color tone. This is a map; should prioritize practicality not aesthetic design. I prefer the old contrasting colors so each item/road in the map stood out.
Lost everything

After 4 years of research and creating categorised lists with over 1000+ places saved throughout my visits, NAVER decides to log me out the account despite having used it for years both when in Korea and the UK. I’m not able to log in anymore and there don’t seem to be a customer service to contact to ask for help in solving the issue. You are forced to submit your personal passport details with very little hope to be reinstated as most people end up with accounts suspended despite having submit the right requirements. Considering the increased tourism in South Korea, you should make it easier for foreigners to use the app and not suspend accounts and ruin people’s trips. Sort it out.
