For over 10 years Olive Tree has been my Bible app of choice. It is invaluable. I mostly use an ESV with Strong’s, which gives me instant access to original Greek and Hebrew words, helping to open up my understanding. I use the app on Mac, iPad and iPhone. The ability to synchronise notes on all three is essential. I use my iPad to take notes during sermons and talks, attached to the passage being expounded. This allows me to cross reference past talks on the same passage (sometimes helpful) and to access the notes on my other devices. Very helpful. Also cross-references, commentaries and study notes attached are hugely useful. However, the app isn’t perfect. In particular the note editor is very basic. Even having the ability to set text bold, italic or underlined would improve it a lot. Bullets and numbered headings would be a boon too, if they could be added in a way that is easily accessible during a sermon!I have literally thousands of notes and would be grateful for the ability to organise them in a number of different ways: by book/chapter/verse; by speaker; by date in text; by date created and date modified. In the past I would add to existing notes if I heard a second sermon on the same passage. Now I make a new note. It would be nice to be able to organise my old notes in a consistent way, probably by exporting, re-formatting and re-importing them. So a good way to export and re-import notes as an editable database would be invaluable.
Thank you for being a long-time user! We appreciate the thorough and honest review. I hope we can offer the ability to bold text, italicize, etc. in notes in the future. I know how helpful that would be. There are currently ways to sort your notes by book, chapter, and verse in the app. Feel free to contact Customer Support at support@olivetree.com for details about how to do that. I will be happy to pass your other note-sorting suggestions onto our development team. God bless!
