Bass player of 25 years but decided to learn 6 string during lockdown just for the fun of it. Paid £20 for the year and boy is it money extremely well spent. Not only does it have guitar tabs, it has bass, drums and keyboard notes (at least on some songs I've come across). You can listen to a computerised version of whatever song you're learning, you can cut all but the instrument you are playing off the track and you can slow it right down to help you get used to whatever solo or riff you're attempting before speeding up to whatever rock god level you're batting for! I suppose you could also strip the instrument you're learning so you can jam along to the track but for what that's worth you may as well jam to your cd/MP3 or whatever. The point is this app gives you many options to help you learn! Gone are the days of trekking all the way to Manchester library to photocopy all the guitar/bass tab books for 20p a sheet 😂It's a little bit of a culture shock after being in an original unsigned band to learning other people's music but with this app it's so so much fun and with the right amount of commitment to practice you will have a lot of the basic 3 - 4 chord strumming songs nailed down after about 1-1.5 weeks. I recommend an additional search on the easiest songs to play on guitar (I recommend you go for wonderwall by oasis), find those on this app and away you go!For guitarists of any levels, covers band or just a bedroom hobby, this app caters for all with a huuuuuuuuge amount of songs, there's been nothing I couldn't find so far 👍 I would say that this is THE essential guitar learning companion. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

[TL;DR - please get this app there’s so many songs you can play and the people are really supportive :)] I found this app because I was Googling chords for “Sweater Weather” by the Neighbourhood. That’s when I found the website which, of course, led me to the app. The app has chords for basically any song imaginable, uploaded by its own users! You can have chords for guitar, ukulele or piano. Also, when you sign up, it asks you questions to personalise your learning experience (e.g. are you a beginner, what’s your learning style). You have to pay for the video lessons though, so I can’t really say anything about them. My dad plays guitar so I can just learn from him. I love the Shots on this app, too! Sure, every platform ever has copied TikTok in terms of short form content that you can scroll through (even Trivia Crack, which is wild) but the shots really show so many people’s talent, which is awesome. Also, people on this platform are super supportive (as I’ve found). Anyways, I 100% would recommend, especially for beginners (like me) who just want to learn some songs. :D

I’ve had a profile here for a long time but due to illness I unfortunately haven’t been able to play. I’m now on the up so recently picked up the the guitar again (much practice will be required as I feel like I’ve somehow lost the last 35 years and I’m starting from scratch again). These days there are so many aids, apps and websites available to a guitarist, whether you’re a beginner or accomplished musician. Ultimate Guitar is hands down the best I’ve used and even better than I remember from my first visits. There is so much here, guaranteed to satisfy the interest of everyone. It doesn’t matter about your age, ability or your preferred musical tastes. You will find plenty to keep you returning. The pro tabs in particular are excellent. If I did have one (tiny) complaint it’s the electronic sound used for the instruments on some of the backing tracks. Although that certainly wouldn’t ever stop me from using this brilliant resource. this is a wonderful app full of helpful courses and sooo much materialhowever, i've been using the free trial and i would SO spend the £40~ on the whole year of the premium version, but what's stopping me is that the app could use a bit of tweaking before i would fully invest in it - for example, it would be really useful if the courses were organised into who teaches them, and also there's an issue when skipping ahead when i'm doing lessons. i'll be watching lesson 15 in section 2 of a course, and when i skip ahead it would take me to lesson 16 in course 1, which is pretty inconvenient and annoying as i have to scroll through alllll the lessons in the section and try and remember which ones i've already done, as the system that tells you which videos you've watched is flawed and acts as though i haven't watched a lot of the ones i have.aside from these small things, i think this app has a huge amount of potential and would be completely worth the money if these particular problems were fixed!!
