I would recommend but a few things to be aware of are 1. Sometimes the English translation isn’t ready so you have to wait a bit. Which is fine unless you’re on a series that’s so good waiting is tragic :-)2. It doesn’t work on my TV so I’m restricted to my phone or son’s iPad. Which means I’m forced to take healthy breaks away from the screen as reading subtitles on small screens does bother my eyes. So I guess it’s good and bad unlike Netflix which I unhealthily binge watch shows on the tv. So it’s a glass half full scenario really3. It doesn’t have all my shows that I want to watch but it does have a fair amount to choose from4. Love some of the functionality that Netflix doesn’t. Like being able write a review so I remember what my views were of that show or reading other reviews but most of all being able to create multiple library lists for myself like my favourites or top ones or anything really. I currently have 3 library lists which is in addition to the standard lists like watchlist, continue watching 5. I don’t like that when I watch from the continue watching list that it’s not as easy to manoeuvre back to the shows info page can only do it from the watchlist6. Overall a great app but there are some buts. As I love the shows I just put up with them as it’s the shows I want to see.

I love this app so much since i struggle to find legitimate and trustworthy places to watch dramas and I find that this one seems safest. I used to watch on my pc and I was using operaGX as my browser and I had no problems (probably due to built in ad blocking software) but since I’m using it on an iPad I have found that there are ads (expected) and I have no issue with them but I can’t use the skip ad button since it starts the ad again and they are around 30 seconds long and sometimes longer. Even when I wait through to the end of the ad it often just starts the ad over instead of resuming the show I’m watching. They are also really loud when they start, much louder than the show I’m watching at the time which makes them really unpleasant when they suddenly appear in the middle of dialogue. Other than that I haven’t run into many problems except for only getting 2 episodes of some shows before needing the pass to carry on which is upsetting but understandable. If the ad problem is fixed I would give 5 stars but right now it’s quite bothersome. Despite lots of it being paid content, it is still very much worth using the free version since it still has some good options.

I wanted to watch True Beauty on this, and it only went up to episode 4 until you had to have a vip pass. I only thought that there would’ve been lots of ads and vip was to remove them and get newer dramas exclusively earlier, but I guess that wasn’t it. It also had a few glitches with the ads where I couldn’t pause them and the only way to pause them was to exit the app and go back in; although the quality is good, when I tried to sign up for a free trial and refresh the app to go back on and see other episodes, it said something went wrong. I waited a few mins, then saw that they were offering me a free trial again after I already had signed up? So I though something was wrong and I attempted to delete my account. When I went to the ‘delete account’ tab, it just showed me to go to a link to understand more. I followed the instructions on the link, and it lead to nowhere; I had to log in on the website version. When I tried to do so, it said my password was wrong when I tried multiple times (and I really know my password)so I just ended up logging out. Conclusion: The title I put sums everything up. :/

I found Viki during COVID lockdown and it has been making me happy ever since. It is one of the best platforms for watching Cdrama and always has some of the best subtitles. I love the little explanations they give sometimes to explain to non-Chinese viewers the meaning of certain phrases or actions they may not be familiar with. This has really helped my understanding of the dramas. The app performs well and my only suggestion would be to add a function to skip the end titles without leaving the play position in the same place. Otherwise when you rewatch the drama it jumps to the end titles on the episodes where you click next episode. Overall I totally love Viki and now pay a year in advance as I feel confident it will continue to provide me with many hours of enjoyment. The entertainment value is well worth the subscription fee. Keep up the good work xx
