Slow and that’s only when it works.

When it is working as it should it is painfully slow. Trying to refresh the screen to see the charging status of my MX-30 can take several minutes. That’s before we touch the biggest floor of all.

When wanting to stop a charging session you need to go into the My Mazda App and stop the charging session as there is no way to do this in the vehicle (which is crazy). If you don’t do this and simply unlock the car and remove the cable, the contacts arc burning the connector and probably the charging port. So the only way to stop this happening is by using the app which only works 90% of the time. There have been numerous occasions where I have been stood next to the car unable to disconnect the charging cable as doing so would cause damage.

The only way you seem to be able to get around this major floor is to go into the vehicle charging settings and change the max charge level to less than your current charge state and most of the time (but not every time) that will stop the charging session. Not exactly an elegant solution!

The app should have a live connection to the car over cellular / WiFi when away from the car and a direct connection either via WiFi or Bluetooth to the car when you are with the vehicle. If this was done that would address the safety issues and make the app significantly more useable.

New app simply isn't good enough!

So along came your new app that was supposed to an improvement on your previous app. Well, I think you may need to go back to the drawing board. Gone are the miles shown in service reminder and in comes kilometres... why?
Vehicle manuals have disappeared, nowhere to be seen..... why?
The navagation manual is supposed to be available to 'download' but it's simply unavailable......why?
I could go on but simply suggest you bring back the old app, which did work.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for feedback about the App to help us improve it, apologies for not being able to register with ease. If we can be of assistance about any features please call us 03457 484848. We have already made several tweaks following early feedback so please check if you have the latest version as manuals, miles are both available.

Makes the MX-30 garbage

Absolutely terrible app. They took Mazda’s Soul of Motion and pooed all over it.

The interface has been designed by someone who seems to have once roughly been told what an app is.

Considering this is the interface of the flagship MX-30, it’s frankly pathetic. If it’s an external partner who built this, they should be fired. If it’s internal, get an agency.

• Slow as all hell on an iPhone 12
• Bizarre UI with weird push and hold buttons, a different screen for very mortal setting. All I want to do is cool the car down and see how the charge is doing.
• Unintuitive
• Hard to read text contrasts in many places
• In vehicle temperature is just a slider with no degrees number yet you ask me to set the change in degrees so I don’t know how low or high I need to set it.

If you can’t get someone to create an app for you, design a comprehensive API and let other developers take a crack. Could then integrate it with services like Alexa that could heat the car up by voice or tell me how the charge is doing etc.

Scrap it. Change the team. Do better research. Start Again.
