I was introduced to this app a little while ago and it’s been a game changer and really enjoy using it. However, I wish there wasn’t this constant push to spend money to use the pro version. As a basic user, I’m happy to just have basic functionality (adding costs and paying my share), anything else such as reports etc I don’t use but if I ever wanted to I’d be happy to pay. The fact that this app tries to annoy you into purchasing the pro version is not good practice in my opinion, making it harder each time you submit a cost in a day by firstly adding a 10 second countdown after your first initial two entries and finally by stopping you from adding anymore entries in one visit that day unless you pay. Please consider stopping this practice or maybe consider a one off payment option for the app ( not a yearly or monthly) or just allow basic users to add costs without being pushed to pay just so they can add a cost if it goes over the 4-5 limit you currently have in place.
Amazing

We went on holiday with two other families. This app stopped any tricky conversations and also allowed us to just buy stuff for other kids and adults without any feelings of being taken advantage of or knowing we owed someone loads! As the week went on, we actually used to app to decide who should pay for things so that the differences were minimal at the end of the holiday. Not sure if the app already does it but would be nice to be able to attach a snapshot of a receipt for each thing but that would just be a bonus on a well working app. Highly recommend
First impressions good, but couple of big issues

I paid for the pro version of this app, and while I initially thought it was a great app, I’ve had a couple of issues with it.1) one of my group members settled up without actually paying. Not a major issue outside the app, but it skewed what I was owed, and couldn’t be undone. I had to transfer all payments to a spreadsheet to make sure what the split was.2) it doesn’t give a clear total or total split. Me and my BIL paid for everything on a holiday with my mum and sister. I’d liked to have seen a clear total spend and a very clear total for each person. Instead it’s all bits and bobs, just feels confusing to me. Again, the spreadsheet was simpler. On the positive side, this was easy to input into, so we got more recorded. And it took pounds and euros, and converted it at the end. I will use again but mainly to capture payments, not necessarily to manage the split.
Developer Response
Sorry for the trouble! If you notice any inaccurately recorded payments you can tap to delete it in order to update the balance. There is also an option to tap "Totals" on the group details screen to view the total group spend and your own totals, for budgeting purposes. If you have further questions or feedback please let us know at support@spliitwise.com. Thanks!
Free version is no use at all

Splitwise has recently made the free version unusable. You can only make 4 entries a day and have no access to analysis or currency conversion. I ended up keeping a copy of everything on Notes as a backup. Pointless. Not sure if this is an issue on the paid version but other annoying things: you can’t see a total spend for a group. You can see by expense type so I had to go and change loads of entries to make them all one expense type. It’s either that or use a calculator with your backup notes!! You can’t see who owes what across your group. Only what people owe you. Not everyone was using Splitwise in my group, as I was the overall controller. But I couldn’t see what person B owed person C. There’s loads of alternative apps like this. I’ll be trying one of them next as this one is useless. I wouldn’t try the paid for version - seems too risky to find out it doesn’t work effectively either.
Various fixes and improvements.
