I investigated a lot of budgeting apps, and this was one of only two I found that really allows more than one person to work from the same budget. This is really essential for a couple or family who share a budget, particularly if there is a joint bank account. This definitely had the better interface of the two I found. It allows you to keep track of multiple accounts, both shared and individual, credit cards, loans, even the cash in your pocket. Adding in a transaction when you buy something is as quick as it could be through the app (it even remembers the location of shops, so it can guess what shop you’re in). There is also a web interface that allows you to do much more on a pc/laptop, such as reports showing how much you’re spending on what, whether you are sticking to your budget etc. As an app I can’t fault it, the only quibble is the price. The free version is inadequate (can only have one account), so you have to pay £45/year subscription, not ideal if you are getting it to help you save money! But I reckon it’s worth it.

We've been using this for some time, since its previous incarnation as EEBA. We find it very helpful. We both have it on our phones. There are a few things you have to go on the actual website to do, and certainly when initially setting it up it needs to be on the website not the app. The website is clunky and I'm glad that there is no need to use it after the initial set up.I used to have it on my Kindle too, but sadly it's no longer supported for Kindle (despite being told I could get it on my new Kindle - that might be true in the USA, but IS NOT true in the UK) which is a pity, as that app had a search function which was really really useful when checking off bank statements. The iPhone app does not have a search function, which is a big omission, and for that reason I'm investigating other budgeting apps.

I’ve been using the Goodbudget app for many years now and it has proven to be an excellent tool for keeping track of my expenses. Very easy to use with the ability to organise expenses into multiple envelopes with expenditure limits. One slight negative point: since the new update, I can no longer save the order of my envelopes, they just return to a random order once I restart the app. Hope the developers can fix this!

Wanted a simple budgeting app I could sync with my partner and thought this looked like the perfect app for that. I need a few more envelopes than the free version permits which is fine but the £5.49 a month or £43 a year is ridiculous. It’s a simple app, try pricing it so e.g one off payment of around £4.99 and you will sell a lot more! It doesn’t do enough to warrant a monthly or yearly subscription model. No need to make it do more either as the simplicity of it is a big part of its appeal - many like me don’t want an app that reconciles everything or connects to our accounts we just want to record our outgoings quickly and be able to share them with a partner.
