Import a reference, align it precisely, configure a dependable grid, and export a clean PNG for your drawing workflow.
Drawing Grid helps artists transfer proportions from a reference image to paper or canvas.
Choose a canvas preset or enter a custom physical size. Configure the grid by row and column count or by cell size, add diagonal overlays, and choose the line color, width, and opacity.
Image Editing mode keeps image gestures separate from canvas navigation. Move, pinch, rotate, crop, center, fit, fill, reset, or adjust the reference opacity. Canvas Navigation mode is available whenever you want to pan or zoom the workspace.
Your complete last-used workspace is saved on-device. Export produces a deliberate 2048-pixel PNG containing the reference and grid without menus, selection borders, indices, or other editor controls.
Drawing Grid 3.4 requires iOS or iPadOS 17.0 and supports iPhone, iPad, rotation, Split View, resizable windows, VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, dark mode, Increase Contrast, Reduce Transparency, and Reduce Motion.
This is a good app as it has a lot of the things an artist would want: the option to enlarge the grid, to make the grid thicker and to change the transparency. The problem I have is when I try to enlarge a part of the picture to see the detail I really need the grid to be stuck to the picture so it grows with the picture and when I zoom back out the grid needs to be where it was before. A good solution to this would be to screen shot once you have the size and colour grid you would like this way the grid moves with the picture and you can rotate it. Problem solved!
Near Brilliant.

This app is more useful and flexible than all the others I've tried by FAR. Line thickness, grid size and colour and opacity are all completely adjustable, but I REALLY need to be able to enlarge or shrink the grid and have it stay square automatically, rather than try to get it back to true by eye. Just one slider is all that is needed. This is so simple and perfect though, I have to say I'd pay a premium to get rid of the distracting ads - Blech! Otherwise this is a five star app. Almost spot on.

Not the most perfect app to use but doesn't deserve the 1 star reviews unless you want to pay for this service on another app. Perfect for purpose though clunky.
Quirky

It sort of works OK but the developer could do better with a sensible interface. Huge buttons that do very little, plus/minus buttons that when pressed twice act as a double tap closing the menu, slider controls that do not slide but scroll the whole section sideways instead. On one occasion I got a grid on the corner of my photo that was the size of a small postage stamp. There are better grid apps available. In my opinion this one is best avoided.
