SyncTime is the easy-to-use and flexible solution to synchronize your files. Keep all your backup copies up to date with the click of a button, with automated schedules, from the Shortcuts app (requires macOS 13 or newer) or even via AppleScript.
* To find out if SyncTime is the right solution for you, you can download and use SyncTime Lite for free. The only limitation of SyncTime Lite is that it discards any previous sync settings when closing and opening the app again. *
You can create as many sync items as you need and customize each one individually. In the standard configuration, a sync item consists of two directories: a source and a destination. You can choose any directory reachable in the Finder: it can be located on your Mac, on an external drive, or on a remote server.
Among the possible options you will find:
• select several sources and destinations: all the sources will be virtually merged and copied to every destination
• overwrite policy: overwrite only if the source file is newer than the destination file, overwrite if the source file has a different timestamp or size, always overwrite or never overwrite
• sync type: one-way sync (copy source to destination), two-way sync (merge source and destination) and one-way move (delete the source files after a successful copy to the destination)
• remove files that don’t exist on the source anymore
• add file filters with names or tags containing specific words or matching a regular expression, or modification dates or sizes in a specific range. Matching files can be excluded or included
• track moved and renamed files
• background syncing: files on your Mac are monitored for changes in real time
• start to sync automatically whenever source and destination become available or set up a custom sync schedule
• dependencies: a sync item will first trigger all its dependencies (if any) and run automatically when they are completed
• backup strategy: files to be overwritten or removed can be moved to the trash, or to a custom directory, or a full, incremental copy of the destination can be made, linking unchanged files
• skip the confirmation dialog once you're confident that the sync behaves correctly
• install AppleScripts (or create your own) to be executed when a specific sync has completed or after all syncs have completed. By default you can install scripts that shut down your Mac, send an email with the sync results, and more.

One of, if not the best app in its class

Synctime has been cleverly engineered to provide all of the high end features you'd expect from a sync / backup app, but comes with a modern, simple, easy to use interface. For home users it offers more flexibility and arguably a safer backup system than RAID1. Can sync locally, to external USB drives, and to NAS or cloud (only iCloud at present). Tonnes of options to tweak file parameters, ignore hidden files etc.. plus offers failsafe backup options if you really need. It’s nice to see a developer offer a trial version too so you can get the feel of whether the app is right for you, however at £9.99 just buy the app and help the developer progress even it it’s not perfect for your needs, Its the cost of a beer! After months of testing other apps in this class, Synctime is definitely my Goodsync replacement. In my opinion it out classes the big name apps and all without the pricey yearly subscription charges (Your tagline rationalising why you built it in the first place is 100% accurate). To summarise…… it just works, and works extremely well. 5 stars!
Very solid app

There's a few places around the user interface where I dont quite understand the options, it's not quite as intuitive as I would like it to be, but for the rest, it's an absolutely solid app. I was previous using the Synology Diskstation app to perform backups from my Mac to the Synology NAS, but this app is way better for the job than I had expected. Less buggy, much more smoother in operation and actually transfers the files much faster and is easier to rely on than their app which was very limited in its operation.

Thank you for your comment. If you would like to help improving the app, you’re welcome to contact me on the website and explain what you don’t find intuitive. Thank you for your time.
Deceptively brilliant app

This is one of those apps that doesn’t look particularly impressive when you first start using it, but ends up by impressing you very much! From its tiny footprint to the extensive set of options available (all very carefully thought out and expressed); from its ease of setup to its straightforward, uncomplicated operation, it’s an app I’ve come to admire and depend on for my backups. The developer is also extremely swift to respond to issues, which is very gratifying!
This is the one!

Searched high and low for a simple solution to syncing my local folders with ones on my NAS. Tried rclone, automator, hazel, pretty much every solution suggested on the internet.. then stumbled across SyncTime. It’s quick, reliable and exactly what I was looking for.
• Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the wrong file to be copied if the source volume didn’t support hard links and the destination did.
• Fixed an issue that prevented the sync completion to be logged and possible subsequent sync items in active sync groups to start if the sync item had the option “Keep synced in background” enabled and a file change was detected before the scan completed.
• Fixed a crash that sometimes happened when removing a step from an active group.
