I have been a LibriVox fan since just after it's beginning, I remember when the 1000th book was uploaded. LibriVox is a fantastic resource, it's only problem up until now was the faff involved in downloading zip files and importing to iTunes, with until quite recently also having to search for a good image to use for the cover art. The app solves all of these problems.Like some other reviewers, I payed for the 'pro' version, not because the adverts were annoying but as a demonstration of support.The content of thousands of books of all genres is free. People have spent a great deal of there own time narrating these stories, poems and textbooks. One of the strengths of LibriVox is that there is no limit as to the number of versions of each book that can be uploaded. If you don't care for a specific reader, download or wait for another version. Even take up the challenge and read your favourite title yourself.

If it was up to me, your phone would come out of the box with this app pre-installed!! A HUGE thank you to all the volunteer readers, quite a few of whom are good enough to turn "professional"!! Some are not so good, but if this upsets you, put your money where your mouth is and volunteer yourself, see if you can do better!! LOL 😁 All the titles are old books, so they are no longer subject to copyright, but that's how they make it free for the rest of us to use. Just because they are old or you've never heard of them doesn't make them bad books!! There are, of course, the "classics", but there are also many hidden gems that just needed dusting off and putting back into circulation. Give it a try, you'll love it 👍🏻

I study English Literature at university and I sometimes struggled to read all the texts I have to in such a short time, and find it hard to read old English with ease. I also find that after a certain amount of books, I’ve completely burned out and don’t take in the pages properly. I had looked into audible but it seemed a little confusing for my tastes. This app,however, has been amazing in helping me work through my reading lists whilst still remaining motivated! It’s easy to navigate and the volunteers are so expressive in their readings, it’s near impossible to lose focus like before!

The life we all have today, on paper should lend itself to a sedentary life style… but in fact the opposite has become true. The devisive cruelty of covid has shown us we need to spend more time doing and less time saying we’re going to spend more time doing what we should already have been doing…What you ask is the fulfilment of that long arduous sentence…Before covid we all at various times promised ourselves to be good little boys and girls, spend more time with the good little boys & girls in our family, but so often we fell short of the mark…Equally, we fell into the abyss of not taking care of ourselves…To this point, Libervox, for me, the panacea, slowing me down, making me ask questions.., even leading me to read as well as listen. The conjoined pleasure of listening & following the words!The envisaged mental depictions of the authors…I’m renewed; erased and redrawn… just when l’d think myself ready for the canvas…a libervox extract would show me the error of my literary ways…Make me race with myself to reach the pause button, hungry to rehear and experience the lines; renew my understanding, or perhaps, just a different prospective!
