Is it bad I feel calm using this app compared to anytime I open Twitter? Blue sky has issues but functionally it’s better than Twitter for these sole reasons: it’s block button works, I can FULLY customise my own algorithm to see the stuff I only want to see (and I can create more than just one, which is so cool), customisation and UI is better on blue sky it’s faster and cleaner and you can create your own domain names to have as your @, which is not only a great way to do verification but a really cool way of getting extra creative with your profile, especially for a nerd like me, its privacy policy’s are MUCH better than Twitter (this is a HUGE thing many people should realise), my posts and data aren’t being used to train AI without my consent, and just generally this app is much more “adult like” compared to X/Twitter.Only complaints are that I wish there was a bookmark/save post function and that video Bitrate would be better everything else is just a case of time really.

This app seems to rely on phones using it. Phone Portrait on iPad is not my idea of 'developed' for anything but phones. Hard work to use. I'm not sure what the developers were thinking, apart from race to compete with X. Invite only means you have to 'be invited' = unhealthy cliques, obligations to the host inviting a person, I'm still on that list, but someone invited me. As if this alternative to X is full on ready.. It is too difficult to search for other interesting people because you only see a couple of inches, and are forever trying to expand. As far as competing with X...I'm still waiting for full screen. Complete the app. Compete well.Seems we are in a world where bragging about what is incomplete, hooking people, as if complete, and having a laugh because incomplete.
Disappointing at best

When downloading Bluesky, I had hoped that it would be a change for the better. Yet I have been sorely disappointed. Due to sweeping rules censoring art in the recently updated community guidelines I feel more unsafe posting my works here than anywhere else, even as someone who really only creates things that are more lighthearted. If it weren’t for the few connections I have made with people that I wouldn’t be able to contact elsewhere, I would’ve long deleted the app. That’s without mentioning the pettier complaints, such as the app not having adapted for screens like my own, thus making typing and even viewing other peoples posts a pain. Did you know that if you click on an image whilst scrolling someone’s profile, the app will automatically take you back to the top of the page? Or that if you click an image elsewhere, it’ll make the text shift, so you can no longer read half of what is being said? There are surely other issues, but there’s no doubt that they’ve been brought up in other reviews, so I’ll end this here. All in all, very disappointed with how this app has turned out.

While technically more competent as a platform over X/Twitter in terms of basic functionality, it’s pretty clear that the moderators have been punishing the LGBTQ+ community for calling out its opponents, anyone who speaks out on issues on Palestine (amongst those affected by the current circumstances), and NSFW artists who explore thornier topics as part of a broader international push from corporations/governments to restrict what they’re able to post/sell at all in the internet. As well as this, they also bent over backwards to recent UK government internet regulations meaning that I begrudgingly used my debit card details just to even continue using the site for business purposes. I have little trust in the CEO’s handling of this platform and I would advise anyone curious to look into the details for themselves - perhaps anyone reading this can even contact Bluesky moderation if you have or know someone who has been caught out by any of the following issues I’ve just described.
