I am an avid book reader, and my favourite thing to do is read myself to sleep. However I have moved recently into enjoying audiobooks more so these days, but don’t want to re-purchase the audiobook versions of all of the books I already have in my extensive library, and that’s when I stumbled onto ElevenReader through some raving reviews and suggestions on Reddit. I have used a bunch of different readers in the past but they all had their own issues, some were sorely overpriced, some had terrible selections of voices, and some had difficult to navigate interfaces which I didn’t always appreciate. And the main thing for me being absolutely none of them provided sleep timers which was an essential feature for me as like I mentioned, I love to fall asleep reading or listening to books but I don’t necessarily want it playing all night. This application absolutely ticks all my boxes. Not only does it have a sleep timer but it has an incredible range of voices which I cycle through depending on the books that I’m reading. An extremely intuitive and modern interface, and a wealth of great features. I can’t believe it took me so long to find this application, a big thank you to the developers and you certainly have a fan in me!

Being dyslexic, reading books is a challenge, but audiobooks are a great way for me to access books without the issue of getting halfway down a page and having to go back and reread what I’ve read because it simply hasn’t gone in. So for me, audiobooks are like an accessibility tool because I still like to have the physical book with me as I read along with the narrator. The problem with this is that Audiobooks are sooo expensive on top of buying the physical book too! This app is a game changer because I can import my book files and have the app read back to me in a realistic voice which sounds just like an audiobook, without having to wait for a month for a new credit from Audible or fork out another £15 for the audiobook on Apple Books, if the book I want to read even has an audiobook in the first place!IMO, ElevenLabs has the best library of Ai voices right now, and whilst the library on this app isn’t as big as the ElevenLabs site, there are still a ton of voices to choose from (including some celebrities) so you can get the right voice for the type of book you’re reading. I haven’t found a voice yet that doesn’t sound like it’s a real person reading back to me. Not only does the voice read it back, but it’s also immersive and actually changes its tone in conjunction to what the text says. For example, if a character is yelling, the voice will often raise its voice. Not all the time, but it’s extremely impressive when it does!Thank you ElevenLabs for creating such a fantastic app, I’m now reading more books than ever!! 👏

Hi, this app is amazing and I love it, thank you! One problem though. The app seemed to update recently, and the new version has some issues:1. Much more likely to glitch and stop reading, giving an error “Error playing audio”. This happens every few minutes on average. It can sometimes be instantly corrected by clicking the “X” button but sometimes requires clicking it a lot or exiting the file or app.2. When I click the “back 15 seconds” button from the home screen on iOS, it goes back to the start of the file instead of back 15 seconds.3. When I click the “back 15 seconds” button within the app, it often jumps back much more than 15 seconds and sometimes even jumps forward (sometimes after a glitch that needs correcting as described in 1).4. Now displays the full file time instead of the time of the amount that has been buffered ready to go. In itself this is probably a good change, but it means there’s no longer a way to see how much has buffered, which is often useful info to have.It would be great if these issues can be addressed and maybe the update rolled back until they’re addressed. As a totally blind user who uses VoiceOver, I absolutely love this app! I can't read things with jaws or VoiceOver anymore… They just don't sound the same! I write fanfic and I use this app to read my stories to make sure there as I want them and it is so much easier to find mistakes! Best discovery in a long time! Thank you for this! It would be cool to have some paid features though, and I would buy them! Totally accessible too, fabulous job! Just to clarify, paid features, I think would be cool would be the ability to download the audio off-line, and also, access to more voices. It would be seriously cool if we could access the voices on the website. I would pay to do that! Also the ability to read Kindle books.
