This isn’t my first calorie tracking app, I’ve tried others like my fitness pall and lose it (second fav) however I wasn’t very consistent with them due to the about of effort I had to do regarding figuring out the grams of what I was eating and trying to calculate the macros myself first. This might not be as accurate as calculating it yourself but it’s a great start to building the habit to calculating calories. Even a rough estimate is good. I followed through with the yearly plan after finishing a 3 day free trial and although it’s just been a week I’m feeling very good about this. I will update in a month to log in my thoughts. I previously had a binge eating disorder so food is a sensitive topic for me but my pet reassuring me and encouraging me helps a lot. This app is very helpful for those who might have a history of eating disorders like me and are in recovery! If any of the app developers are reading this What I would like to change and could really elevate the app is to add more customizable features. Like maybe dressing up our raccoon and adding more backgrounds! Maybe from our camera roll or something. I would love that so much🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 pretty pretty please. Those ads on tiktok work too so keep it up that’s how I discovered it! I’m in here for the whole year I hope this app help me gain my goals and form a better relationship with food thanks so much
A good app, but has some limitations which if addressed this could be great.

Started using this App a few months ago to guide me to more nutritional eating habits. The positives are it’s very cute and motivates you to achieve high nutrition score. The downside to the app is that it isn’t very accurate if you’re using it as a main calorie app. Sometimes it wildly overestimates and underestimates calories. So if trying to be in a deficit this will not be accurate so be wary of taking what it says at face value. Another downside is it doesn’t always recognise the ingredients that have gone into a dish, for example if you tell it your eating a BLT sandwich it will log out as a BLT sandwich but your nutrition score will be low. As it will just log it as a sandwich with no extras. If you want to overcome this you have to put everything you have eaten in individually so lettuce, tomato, bacon, butter, wholemeal bread etc. then your score will be higher. This can be time consuming and would be great if there was a way it could recognise that these are included as part of the dish. But overall I have really enjoyed using the app.
Developer Response
Hello! 🌿 We’re so glad you find the app cute and motivating — that’s exactly what we aim for! 💚 Thank you for the honest feedback regarding calorie accuracy and ingredient recognition. We know that logging complex dishes like a BLT can be tricky, and we’re working on making our AI smarter at identifying those hidden ingredients automatically. Your tip about logging items individually is a great workaround for now, but we want to make it easier for you! Stay tuned for updates. — The Bitepal Team
Food is finally fun

I used to use fitness pal which was great but then they wanted stupid amounts of money for it so I stepped using it. This app makes food fun again instead of making me feel guilty for eating. It would be good if it was a bit more accurate when it comes to scanning something as I’ll scan a 20g snack bar & the app assumes I’m eating 50g or something so it feels there is still a little room for improvement as some of the packaging I photo has the weight or calories clearly in the image which should be amount for the AI to pick up on. For future developments/improvements could there be some way to personalise your raccoon, similar to the Finch app where you can do more with your virtual pet which encourages you to do tasks? It would be nice to earn rewards for things so you can interact with your raccoon & change his appearance, get him little treats etc since this would reward engagement or positive behaviours. Also a way to input workouts such as linking to Apple Health, fitbits etc would be a nice touch as recording food is one thing but also working out & burning calories is another healthy life goal for most people which could be incorporated.
Good, but room for improvement!

I really like it and have found it easier to stick to vs apps like My Fitness Pal, this app for the most part is accurate - but I hope for 2 updates in the future:1 - to be able to take a picture of your leftovers if you don’t finish a meal, currently you take a photo of your meal and all those calories/macros are logged BUT if you don’t finish a meal there is no way to let the app know you didn’t eat it all. If we could click a meal and take a secondary photo to show what we didn’t eat and it could then minus it from that meal for the day OR just have a minus section that takes it off from the days total that would be really useful.2 - Some foods are inaccurate, specifically when I’m eating out/fried foods - I think this is because it’s going off of American standards - I’m in the U.K., often it overestimates the fat & calories for my food, for example I at out the other day and it was a fried chicken burger and fries, the calories were on the menu and it was 1560, however, bite pal estimated it as over 2000 calories - which is a BIG difference.
A small update to keep things running smooth.
Less bugs, more snacks.
