I’m trialling the pro version and it’s really good, albeit a bit buggy at times. I assume the app is still being perfected though.However, once my trial ends it wants me to continue by paying £60 a year. At the moment there are maybe seven stories (each of which takes about half an hour to complete). For that price I’d want at least 100 stories, plus extra content on the characters you want to learn more about.Once there is significantly more content I would happily pay the money.

All over their FAQs they state that if you want to cancel your subscription or claim a refund after accidentally auto-renewing, you have to go through Apple as your subscription is managed through the Apple Store. This is completely false!!!!! Not only did I not sign up for an auto-renew deal (I paid in full for 1 year’s subscription in Dec 2025), the Paladin subscription DOES NOT APPEAR in my active subscriptions under my Apple account, which means I can’t do anything through Apple! I still contacted Apple directly about getting a refund for the £50 that Paladin fraudulently charged me for a further three months subscription, (despite the fact that I already signed up for a whole year’s subscription in December!!) Apple unfortunately said they could not help me on this occasion as my subscription is in fact not through Apple and is in fact directly with Paladin. So I emailed Paladin on the same day as this £50 came out to say I didn’t want to go ahead and buy they refused to refund me as they said I had to go through Apple. Completely ignoring the fact that I told them that I had already tried to go through Apple and Apple had told me that my subscription is not through them and is with Paladin directly!!! These folks are dodgy. Avoid avoid avoid. Also the app is terrible. How are you calling yourself a history app when you don’t have a single video on the Vietnam War?

This is a fantastic idea for an app, it's like Duolingo for history which I love. I'm not sure if AI is used to write the chapters, but it's definitely used for the images. I don't like this at all, either create original art, or better yet use actual historical images! I did a lesson on Edward III and all the images were AI, how about you show me portraits or medieval illustrations of the battle, it would immerse me so much more by actually seeing pictures, portraits, and historical illustrations/photos of the events in a lesson. I was considering buying the premium subscription, but I can't bring myself to do it when it has these issues. Overall, stop using AI, original art is expensive yes but just use actual historical images! I also think there should be categories based on time periods. I like learning about specific historical figures, but I studied ww1 and ww2 a lot, so I think the app would benefit from having designated sections based on specific time periods with the option of looking at an event or person.

The app is really good and has the potential to be a really powerful learning tool. I do feel however for the current content it is not worth the premium subscription cost. Whilst the AI generated content is visually interactive, I would prefer a mix of animated videos and real life pics and videos. Some AI images are a bit flawed with blurs and distorted objects. The stories feel like a summary and I believe for it to be worth the price more detail will have to be given on the stories for a more rich and historical experience. Additionally, the currently layout is not organised into historical periods but rather into themes, I believe more stories on historical periods and a breakdown of stories from different time periods along with the stories of individual characters would be more beneficial. With the features mentioned, the app can turn into a very successful application to learn history in a fun and enjoyable way.
