I originally gave this one star. My original complaint was about ‘wall' thickness expands from the middle of the line. It would have been good to alter line thickness to inner, outer or central of the drawn line – Currently it is set to central, making you clumsily draw around the floor plan.There’s a big learning curve. I have worked out I need to design the floor dimensions first and not the walls. I’m sure a quicker way of designing layouts is possible but I guess the price I paid is reasonable for what you can achieve.

I've used Sweet Home in earnest for years. It delivers useful functions and is relatively really easy to pick up and learn, plus it gives you 3d for free without any extra effort. Its user interface seems to have stalled in the '90s, unless , after years of use, I'm just not finding the basic controls I want or haven't thought about work-arounds. Two examples, I want to merge one room with another but can't seem to in an intuiitve way. I want to lock the room on the plan so that it doesn't move with shapes I've added to the plan. Can't find an intuitve way to lock just the room and not the shapes too.

It takes a bit of learning to fully get to grips with this app, but it is worth it if you allow the time to do so. However, there are many glitches within the app which make it difficult to use and actually slows you down.For example, selecting and deselecting the visibility tick-box in the property list is extremely erratic. Sometime clicking selects or deselects and sometimes it doesn't. This means that you have to click in the box many times before what you wanted actually happens.Another example: opening the 3D view and using the mouse to scroll around the view of the drawing does not work when in full screen mode. Go out of full screen and then it works. Annoying and slows you down.Finally, this app looks and feels like a ported Windows app. It certainly does not follow the Apple usability guidelines and it is not intuitive to use.However I did buy it after using the free on-line trial version and I use it regularly, so there must be something that makes me do this!

My wife and I have recently purchased a new house and wanted a simple, low cost tool to understand how our furniture fits in each room.It is very easy to pick up and runs beautifully smootly on my 2016 MacBook (even with a basic Intel Core m3 processor).Aspects like the fact that the walls expand from the centre make it awkward to draw the outside of the rooms. Entering interior dimensions would make this much easier.Having said that, we got to grips with it quickly and it proved to be invaluable when designing the house. Being able to see the layout and the room in 3D at the same time is a real bonus. It's also easy to change colours and textures.I'd definitely recommend it.
