Honestly, the game is great. Does it compare to its predecessor? Yes and no, where Anima gets fast paced quicker; and the mechanics are simpler, Oniro takes its time to get into the meaty parts of the game, but offers a far wider range of builds and combinations. The story feels a little dead at times, where you are running large maps with few enemies. So progress can feel slow, although there is the opportunity of running key maps where there are far greater amounts of enemies. I find myself ignoring the enemies in story, and grinding for exp in the key maps. Maybe this is what was supposed to happen? I haven’t struggled with not being powerful enough, but when I have come close, a quick trip to the gambler manages to push me back in the right direction. It would be great if maps offered a currency similar to anima, so resetting skills doesn’t feel locked behind luck of the free spins; or a pay wall. (Let me just say; this game does not feel pay to win at all, not to confuse with my words). This game is still new, and has a lot of potential. I am looking forward to future updates that the team has to bring. It’s definitely worth checking out.
Beautiful and well designed, with one flaw…

The game has a wonderful Japanese feel, with armour, weapons and lore. The locations are beautifully rendered and the avatar changes with each addition of kit. Movement is graceful and combat immersive. The only problem I am finding is the terrible reward rate. Gold rarely drops, and is in such low quantities, it is almost pointless. Selling a dropped suit of armour pays 10g at the merchant (I am level 46), but the cost of combining three gems is 3500g. Chests drop 39g, small monsters drop 39g and huge powerful bosses drop 39g. This part of the game is so unbalanced. I am fighting with the same weapon I picked up at level 20 because nothing better has dropped since. I would pay for a better weapon! A 5 star game if the balance of rewards gets sorted out.
Good start slow finish.

Loved the game enjoyed the story, but when you reach level 100, it becomes very slow. There are level 150 monsters but you need to be near that level to stand any chance of defeating them, it’s so slow to get to that level, so enjoyable to play but maybe time to let it go, of course you can pay to win and to be fair to the developers that’s what they are in it for.
Great so far

I’m level 20 now and really enjoying the game so far. It’s a dark game and reminds me very much of Diablo 2 but with a skill tree that’s similar to POE that allows for some good customisation. For old school ARPG players we will love it. The kids who have grown up on fast paced, easy games where everything is just handed to you will moan about this game. I hope they add some more social aspects to the game, clans, PvP and group finder to take on harder areas and bosses.
