As someone who has been playing Runaway games for more than a decade, writing this review feels almost emotional for me.My journey with Runaway began many years ago with Flutter: Butterfly Sanctuary, and since then I have been there for the launch of Starlight and Bird Kind. Each time, Runaway created something that felt peaceful, magical, and alive in its own quiet way. So when Hatch Dragons was announced, I waited for months with that familiar feeling of anticipation — the kind you get when you know a new world is about to open.And somehow, it’s exactly what I hoped it would be.It’s hard to explain what makes this game so special. In many ways it feels completely new — the dragons, the mechanics, the atmosphere — yet at the same time it carries the same soul that Runaway games have always had. That gentle feeling of discovery. The calm pace. The sense that you’re nurturing a living sanctuary rather than just “playing a game.”The dragons are beautiful, the world feels serene, and there’s a quiet magic in watching these creatures hatch and grow. Perfecting my first dragons already felt meaningful in a way that’s hard to describe — the same kind of wonder I felt the first time I discovered new butterflies years ago.Runaway has always had a rare talent for creating games that feel peaceful, alive, and emotionally comforting. Has a lot of potential

The game is relaxing and the art style is super cute, but it does get boring quite fast. I love collecting new dragons and uncovering their descriptions and feeding them etc, but the game is heavily based on waiting around for things to hatch, food to grow or your quests to regenerate. Which means there isn’t much playing at all. The devs must add some sort of mini game early on to help with progress. Literally even adding a map for the quests with the big raven would be fun. Because now that I’ve progressed a bit I only log onto the game to collect gold, hatch eggs and that’s almost it. There’s nothing interesting to do as everything needs a lot of time to be completed when you’re offline basically. Also gold is quite hard to get early on as dragons barely produce it and once they make a certain amount, it doesn’t stack and you have to collect that small amount even if you were gone for hours. But the potential is definitely there and it would be 5 stars if there was some sort of fun visual quests or puzzles to do to earn gems or gold.

Needs a few improvements

Iv been playing the game for a months now and really enjoying collecting the dragons an doing the fishing and cooking events. Only complaints I have are the 2h slots for the events are to demanding to keep up with and we can’t go back and collect previous event dragons. If we are able to go back and maybe do challenges to obtain them, even buy one with gems or coins it would be great. Also collecting the coins from the dragons gets tedious after a while, hunting down ones you have missed can be annoying. If we could collect all of them at once it would be amazing. One last thing, expanding your forest gets very very expensive and takes to long, leading to dragons building up and slowing progression down. Apart from a few things to help progression and quality of life improvements this game is great. The dragons have excellent designs, events are easy to do, addicting gameplay cycle and overall fun time. Would highly recommend and suggest to anymore

This game is absolutely gorgeous, relaxing music and vibrant visuals that are incredibly pleasing to the eyes. The systems work (for the most part) very well together and the dragon designs and “biology” is thoughtful and wonderful. My only gripe is that the fishing events are far too short to realistically collect all the rewards. You’d have to play the game every 2 hours to maximize the fishing resets, and that isn’t feasible for many. A simple fix to make it more manageable but not easy would be a fish trading system, 3 tier 1 fish = 1 tier 2 fish and so on. There is a real sense of fomo with the fishing. It would also be nice if the dragons popped out more on your screen, as it’s quite easy to miss them. Otherwise, the game is absolutely wonderful and a fantastic wee breather. (Ps please keep the ads optional, watching ads as a choice for a reward is the best, don’t change it.)
