I have had several Bolt rides now , mainly to and from airports but also some to collect my car after servicing it. I feel I know the setup good enough to write a review. The plus points are that they are reasonably fast to respond to my requests and l can see where the cars and drivers are on the app. The bad points I have encountered are that some drivers just sit in their cars while I , an 75 year old man has to struggle with my 15 kilo luggage to put in the boot of their car . That trip was yesterday from Uxbridge to T5 Heathrow. There was a slight drizzle of rain then. I feel that should not be the case. Have any if you experienced that? I would like drivers to help out not bloody well sit inside their cars while customers struggle to load their luggage . Helping a customer is the least that you can do. When we arrived at T5 , he again did not get out of his car but l had to take my luggage out of the back of his car! I am in Santorini now after just arrived . The Greek driver greeted me and others in my party , took my luggage up some steps , loaded our 4 pieces of luggage, drove us to our apartment , then unloaded our stuff. He was pleasant and talkative unlike the one who drove us to T5 . What a contrast in civil manners! Bolt should reach their drivers some of those simple manners. I will have more to contribute when I visit Budapest , Rome and Sorrento to see what their drivers are like in comparison to our UK ones.
Extremely bad service and driver conduct

I would have given negative stars if I had a choice. I called a cab via bolt a couple weeks ago to go from Westferry to Spitalsfield Market. The driver accepted my request and called to confirm where I was going. And he confirmed he would be there in 2 mins. So he arrived, I got into the car, he suddenly said, oh you are going to congestion zone, I m not going. And he basically said he doesn’t want to go he won’t go in many ways. But I was already sitting on the car. So he kicked me out of the car. Instead cancelling/completing my trip, he then went on driving with the app still showing that I was on the ride. So I called their Helpdesk, told them this incident. And I said I want to make a compliant about the driver. So the guy on the other end of the line said ok we will give him a warning. So I asked what’s gonna happen if he gets a warning, he will still be allowed on the platform and repeat his behaviour. The guys said yeah he will get a few warning then of course we will off board him. I said ok I want someone to email me to let me know the result of my complaint. He agrees. But then nothing. I heard nothing from Bolt. If they don’t have strict rules about drivers’ conduct, how can they ensure the safety of their customers? If they don’t take complaint and feedback seriously, do they even intend to improve the service? Or do they just want to get as much investor’s money as possible and sell the app and retire? This is highly unethical!
Wouldn’t recommend

I have been using bolt consistently from when it was first available in London. I’ve had a large variation of drivers on my regular travels and around 50% of the drivers have been lovely and very accommodating, however the other 50% of them are very rude and have awful customer service skills. Drivers shouldn’t be in a job so customer orientated if providing a basic level of respect and comfortability won’t be present.I have had a driver pull up and have the doors locked and I am exempt with an exempt badge and he saw the badge and drove away without saying a word.Another driver was extremely rude the second o sat down in the taxi he immediately told me too put my seatbelt on and a mask and if I refuse either to leave the taxi. I placed a scarf across my face as I was in a rush and he proceeded too ignore the navigation and drove straight passed the turning and drove through a large one way system and said nothing but “I’ve gone the wrong way” I’ve had many bad experiences with the drivers and the app I’ve had lots of conversations with different drivers about how they will refuse bookings and wait for the surcharge too rise due too the increased demand for a higher fare. I’ve been refused a lot of times by drivers very short distances away from me like 3 or 4 minutes away due too the issue of not wanting the journey or destination and I will be charged each time I request a ride the full amount of the journey and won’t be refunded the money for 3-5 working days which were 3 separate payments of £7.50 for each time
Would not recommend for anyone who intends to get from place to place easily.

If you can avoid using this godforsaken app, do it. Not useful at all, even if you plan in advance. Drivers often cancel last minute and so you’re left spending the next half hour waiting for a driver to accept and then risk them also cancelling. I only redownloaded this app as I didn’t have enough storage for competing apps lol. Would not recommend. And not just that, your funds get held for a little bit so if you’re in a pinch or rush, good luck quickly booking another one! It’s not convenient. I’ve planned ahead many times but I see things haven’t changed since I stopped using the app. It’s still just as useless, unfortunately. There is an option to boost payment for chances to get a driver sooner, but that comes too late. And when the alert does come, you still have drivers cancel! Ha. Never had this issue with annyyyyy other app. Never. How have things gotten worse? I write this as my driver is 5 mins late despite app constantly suggesting 2 mins. I’m late. There’s literally no point for me to use this service anymore, I could’ve just gotten a tram. I should have but a driver selfishly accepted my ride and I foolishly expected for it to come in 2 mins. I’m currently on my 5th driver. Let’s just hope he sticks to…Okay finally got in bolt and honestly… I could’ve walked an hour and been better off. It’s not worth the stress and anxiety. There are better services out there
Thanks for using Bolt!
